Some words for a fallen brother...

"Nine planets round the sun
Only one does the sun embrace
Upon this watered one
So much we take for granted
So let him sleep outside tonight
Lay down in his mother’s arms
For here he can rest safely

If green should slip to grey
But our hearts still bloody be
And if mountains crumble away
And the river dry would it stop the stepping feet

Take all that we can get
When it’s done
Nobody left to bury here
Nobody left to dig the holes
And here we can rest safely

One sweet world
Around a star is spinning
One sweet world
And in her breath I’m swimming
And here he will rest in peace..."

Last night was the worst night of my career. I heard the 999 officer down call for help. My heart rate and adrenalin rocketed. I rushed to your rescue Timothy like so many of your fellow brothers and sisters on the department. Upon our arrival it was to late for us to help you. What a God awfull experience. I feel like someone has kicked me in the stomach. I have been with are agency for 6 years and I never got to me you but I feel like I have lost a loved one. My eyes are watering up as I type this. I feel so much sorrow for you and your family. All day today I drove around in my patrol car thinking of you and talking about you. Even now there are Deputies standing by with you and your family until you are laid to rest. We will never leave you alone Timothy for we all carry a piece of you in our hearts. You will be missed brother...you will be missed.

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.

Tonight, August 11, 2005 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Deputy Sheriff Timothy Graham who died in the line of duty just yesterday.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Deputy Graham's sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Deputy Graham, it was not so long ago that the Pima County Sheriff's Office helped our agency mourn the loss of our own Officer Patrick K. Hardesty. Now it is our turn to be the shoulder that is leaned on in this time of pain. Our agencies are bonded together by geography, through a common training academy, and most importantly by that which cannot be adequately described in words but is felt by all who serve and protect. Our prayers go with you and with the good man who died trying to help you. May God Almighty hold you close to Him, and may His peace be with your family. Rest easy now brother, we have the watch...
