I was driving home the night of the accident and saw all the police cars. By the looks on the faces of the Deputies, I knew something was very wrong. Each face told the story. I know all too well what those faces were saying. How lucky are we who have known someone so dedicated to give their lives for our protection. My heart is breaking for the family, friends and coworkers of Deputy Graham. I know all too well how you feel.

Timothy,
I'm so used to writing to my daddy. It's been 42 years since my daddy was shot and killed. you want to know whats really crazy? my mom lives in Tucson and has been there for the 20 some odd years and I know Tucson like the back of my hand. I know Ajo and Kinney because of regular trips to the swap meet. I now live in brunswick, Ga. I'm married for almost 23 years to a retired Deputy US Marshal. He just finished a 3 year tour at FLETC and we are getting ready to finish our life in Tucson. We will be living here Labor Day. Would have loved to meet you but maybe you can tell my daddy hello and that we love him and still to this day miss him very much. His name is Al Steinat, eow May 2, 1963 Prince Georges County Police Dept. PG Maryland. Thanks so much for delivering this message for me. There will be a seat waiting there for you with all the other Law Enforcement Officers who gave their life so the rest of us could live safe peaceful lives. Gods speed be with you on your journey home.

Thank you Deputy Graham, for your service which made a difference in the world each day. What impresses so much about LE is that these men and women serve as officers of the highest caliber but are at the same time, human. We are all brother's and sisters as Dawud Isa Abusida reminded us when he chose to help you. My deepest condolences to the families and friends of these brave men.

Tim, we all miss you so much. We will miss your excitement for the job and your wonderful sense of humor. You were doing God's work and he has called you into early retirement. And what a retirement home you must be in now. Your family will be well taken care of. God bless you Tim and your family.

Tim, from that first day at orientation you and I became friends. I can remember the end of the first day at the academy when we both asked each other what we got ourselves into. That all changed throughout the academy. I remember it well, graduation day was a great day and like always you had a smile that went from ear to ear. I was glad to know we would both be assigned to the same shift in SX. It was always a pleasure to work with you and know if the day was not going well, you would always put a smile back on my face. On Aug. 10 2005 I heard of the terrible accident that took the lives of three men, one of them my friend. I attended your viewing and broke down into tears, finally realizing this was not a dream. I went to your funeral today and words can't describe the love for you. Tim, you were not only a co-worker...you were my friend and you will always be in my heart.

What can we say that can make things any easier i know nothing helps. May the Lord be with the family and co-workers. Its a shame that this had to happen with a suspect most likely should have never been free on our streets. Thank you to the taxi driver who gave the ultimate to try to help.

Tim, I first met you a year ago along with your wife. We talked for a bit about the job and our 101's talked forever. I remember what a wonderful smile you had the entire time. You were a pleasure to be around.

I went to your memorial service today and saw you again. Like most everyone there I cried seeing a fallen brother. Rest assured your family is being looked after. You will be missed very much by all your brothers and sisters in PCSD. Thank you for the short time we spent together.

To Tim's family and friends, my condolences. God bless you. We will now and forever be here for you.

Tim,
I thought I was in the angry phase of grieving, but after reading these reflections, I realize that I am still sad. I first met you, while you were on FTO at Foothills. Since then we exchanged greetings while passing each other in booking and I talked to you last at 1645 hrs that fateful day when you were helping me locate a stolen vehicle at the jail. I remember saying thank you and see you later. Little did I know that the circumstances would be so tragic.
I sit here with a heavy heart and crying eyes. It is not fair that this happened to such a good person. I feel guilty that I am so sad. Cops aren't supposed to be this way, but when one of our own and someone you worked with goes it is hard.
Your family is being taken care of by your comrades...looking after them every minute since it happened. You are being heralded as a Hero!!! Well deserved. I don't know if you knew it or not, but a cab driver stopped to help you. His name is Mr. Dawud Abusida. He a is also a Hero that gave his life to protect you, our brother. Something that is rare in the civilian community!!!
Tim, you will be greatly missed!!! Keep an eye on all of us especially your squad mates in SX. I know they will need it for the months/years to come.
You did not die in vain Tim. You died doing what you loved and I know you would not have wanted it any other way.
Please say "Hi" to two very speacial people to me up there. Detroit Police Officer Scott Stewart EOW 08-11-02 and Tucson Police Officer Patrick Hardesty EOW 05-26-03.
Thank you Tim...for always smiling!!!
To Tim's family, we are here for you 24/7...anything you need or want, rest assured you will get it. You are part of our family and always will be!!!

To the family of Deputy Graham, know that you are not alone. My family too is in mourning with you. Another hero lost to this world. Remember they are still with you though and will be there for their bothers and sisters who make up the thin blue line. Remember the smiles, laughter, and days spent together. These things will help you through the comming months. Memories of my father in law, Phx P.D. Officer David Uribe 4276, help us through our sorrow and give us the strength to go on. You will all have your good days, and there will be bad ones too. Cry the tears and hug eachother close. If there is anything you need, please contact me if you want to. I can be reached at [email protected] . Tim is now a member of an elite force in heaven and will always be rememberd as a hero here on earth. God Bless.

“When God made Peace Officers….”

When the lord was creating Peace Officers, he was into his sixth day of overtime when an angel appeared and said, “You’re doing a lot of fiddling around on this one.”

And the Lord said, Have you read the spec on this order? A Peace Officer has to be able to run five miles through alleys in the dark, scale walls, enter homes the health inspector wouldn’t touch, and not wrinkle their uniform.

They have to be able to sit in an undercover car all day on a stakeout, cover a homicide scene that night, canvass the neighborhood for witnesses, and testify in court the next day.

They have to be in top physical condition at all times, running on black coffee and half- eaten meals. And they have to have six pairs of hands.

The angel shook her head slowly and said, “Six pairs of hands….No Way.”

“It’s not the hands that are causing me the problems,” said the Lord, “It’s the three pairs of eyes an officer has to have.”

That’s on the standard model? asked the angel.

The Lord nodded. One pair that sees through a bulge in a pocket before he asks, “May I see what’s in there sir?” (When they already know and wishes they had taken that accounting job.) Another pair here in the side of their head for their partners’ safety. And another pair of eyes here in front that can look reassuringly at a bleeding victim and say, “ You’ll be alright ma’am, when they know it isn’t so.”

“Lord,” said the angel, touching his sleeve,” rest and work tomorrow.”

“I can’t,” said the Lord, “I already have a model that can talk a 250 pound drunk into a patrol car without incident and feed a family of five on civil service paycheck.”

The angel circled the model of the Peace Officer very slowly, “Can it think?” she asked.

“You bet,” said the Lord, “It can tell you elements of a hundred crimes, recite Miranda warnings in it’s sleep; detain, investigate, search, and arrest a gang member on the street in less time than it takes five judges to debate the legality of the stop…and still it keeps it’s sense of humor.

This officer also has phenomenal personal control. They can deal with crime scenes painted in HELL, coax a confession from a child abuser, comfort a murder victim’s family’ and then read in the daily paper how Law Enforcement isn’t sensitive to the rights of criminal suspects.

Finally, the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek of the Peace Officer. “There’s a leak,” she pronounced. “I told you that you were trying to put too much into this model.”

“That’s not a leak,” said the Lord, “It’s a tear.”

“What’s the tear for?” asked the angel.

“It’s for bottled-up emotions, for fallen comrades, for commitment to that funny piece of cloth called the American flag, and for justice.”

“You’re a genius,” said the angel.

The Lord looked sober. “I didn’t put it there,” he said.
