To the Melancon family,May God Be the Strength, through this most difficult time. As a sister in law enforcement, I am most troubled by the recent incident involving this fallen hero, the words of the chief brought tears to my eyes. There will never be the words to describe what your family feels, but I do pray that your family finds strength in each other and in the memories that you left behind. Thank you for your daily service to the community and the risk that you took everyday for people you have never met. You will never be forgotten by those who are grateful for the service you provided and by the family who loved you so dearly. I know what its like and how it feels to return something to God that you wish was still with you. And to your family: Always keep the memories that you were given and know that he is in a place where he can watch all of you all the time and know that you are safe and still keeping him in your hearts. Thank you for making the greatest sacrifice that can be made. God be with you.

There are no words to express what I'm feeling right now. As I come to the end of my first year on the department I'd prayed everyday something like this wouldn't happen. When I heard the words officer shot today as I turned on the news station my stomach dropped. And as I was told who it was it felt like it shot straight up into my throat. Why this had to happen to Terry I guess we'll never know. Rest in peace friend. Ask Jesus to heal our other two hurt brothers.

P.S. Don't lock your keys in the car in heaven. I don't think pop-a-lock goes that far.
