To the family and loved ones of Officer Jesus Lizardo-Espada and his fellow officers with the Puerto Rico Police Department:

On this the first anniversary date of Jesus' tragic death, I wanted to honor and remember him today.

I am so sorry that Jesus was robbed of his life at such a young age, but through his heroism and the profound sense of duty with which he lived his life, he made an immeasurable difference. May his spirit continue to soar and may his memory continue to inspire.

To Agent Jesus Lizardo-Espada and his loved ones:

Please know that your memory is honored and revered today.

My heart is still with your family and I look forward to meeting them in D.C. You’re all in our thoughts and our prayers.

Jesus, you rescued us, saved our possessions, our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication are awe-inspiring.

This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.

Rest in Peace, Agent Lizardo-Espada. I am so humbled by your valor and courage.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Jesus gave to his community and the citizens of Puerto Rico, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on August 1, 2005.

To the family and friends of Agent Jesus Llizardo-Espada and his fellow officers with the Puerto Rico Police Department:

On behalf of our entire family, I wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Agent Lizardo-Espada was brutally murdered. His valor and bravery will not be forgotten.

Our family grieves with you and for you. We share your agony as we lost our beloved Larry Lasater of the Pittsburg Police Dept. when he was fatally shot during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers on April 23rd. I am so sorry that another family has to face this devastating trauma.

May you be comforted by the caring and support of your law enforcement community, and other police survivors. There will be many who will be with you each step of this awful journey.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Jesus gave to his community as a police officer and to his country through his valiant fight against drugs , and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on August 1, 2005.
