Larry,

I never in my life thought that someone I never met could ever imprint themselves on my life the way you and your dad have. Not a day goes by that you do not cross my mind. My heart goes out to "Mom", your entire family, your "Brothers", and "Buoys". I will never forget you.

I think about you and your father all the time. I pass by the accident sight every night on my way home from work, and it makes me sooo sad. You were
such a good person. My husband valued your friendship very much.
I know he thinks of you alot, everyone does...we all miss you very much !!
You are not forgotten.....always in our hearts.....

Uncle Larry, we went to the mall and mommy gave me pennies to throw in the fountain. I used all three to wish that you and Poppy would come back from heaven. I miss you taking just me on "dates" to my favorite restraunts. I like to go through the picture boxes and find pictues of you and me riding bikes, flying kites, carving pumpkins and having fun. I am 5 1/2 now and getting so tall. I miss you so much and I love you!

Larry, you are with us daily! Not a shift goes by that I don't remember something about you or something you did. It's been several months now, and life goes on, but you are not forgotten. Just felt the need to say this because even though life does go on, your memory is still with us all very much. You are missed!

A day that forever will change our lives
Larry responded not just for duty and honor,
But Larry knew the code.
He quickly responded to his brothers call,
Not knowing that he was going to his death,
He knew only to get there
So he could do his best.
Larry gave his life for the wearing of the green
He spoke of playing the pipes
and being on the SOT Team.
Larry talked about things that happened
And about things to come
Not knowing that soon we would be listening
To the bagpipes and drums.
Larry knew the code. The warrior's code.
That we will always press forward in the fight.
He knew that we must push ourselves
Hone our skills to ready for the test
that when our day comes calling
We will do our best.
I can see Larry in heaven
Standing on a grassy knoll
Playing his pipes loudly, holding out his chest
Knowing he stood for honor, he stood for the code
That when it came his time, he always gave his best.

This is to a great officer and even a greater man. Larry I had a great pleasure in getting to know and work with you over the 2 1/2 years you worked for us. You will be greatly missed, I'm just glad to say that I know one day we will get to see each other again. I know this must be a great loss to the family you have, but just knowing they too will see you one day must help them through the hard times. I thank god for giving us the understanding that we will see you again. God bless the family and friends.

Larry, it has took me a while to say my final good-bye. It has been so hard to let go. You have been memorialized and your life celebrated at a number of events I have attended, but you are missed the same at each and every one of them. Both you and your father answered the call in the armed forces and both left a lasting impression on many, many lifes. You are and will be missed by myself and many others. I salute you both.

While it is no consolation for your loss, our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and fellow officers of Officer Cantrell.

While no member of our agency had the privilege to have known him personally, we are certain that he has found a place in heaven through his selfless service to those he swore to protect.

Rest in peace officer; those of us who remain will cover your post on the thin blue line.

We just wanted to give an update on the dog. Retten was Larry's best friend. He loved that dog. After we found out that the dog had been given to the animal rescue we contacted them asap. We felt that the dog needed to be in a home that loved Larry and knew Larry. Retten was a little nervous and you could tell that he missed his owner very very much, however he was healthy and doing very well. He is now with Larry's family. They were also unaware of the change in Rettens home. When they found out we had him they contacted us. We were more than happy to let him go to be with his own family. We felt that was the best place for him. We were blessed to have him in our home for the short time we had him.

Larry, It has been almost a month since we all last saw you. You are greatly missed by everyone with the department, as well as your family and friends. We were both honored to know you as an officer, a man, but best of all as our friend. We will honor you as a family tomorrow night by candel light. We all know you will be looking down on us with a smile on your face. We love you and miss you! Rest in Peace our Friend.
