Trooper Cila,

I never met you but I learned about your death the day it happened. I was apart of the Student Trooper Program the week you were buried. I looked out my rooms widow to the rear company street and saw the RTT returning from your funeral. We went out side about 20 minuets later and heard the same speech the RTT got from there SDI. Although it was not directed towards me, I could not help but feel a chill run up my spine as he roughed to the recruits. He spoke of you as a hero and reminded the recruits of the sacrifice that some must make to make this state a safe place to live. I could only think of the bound that is shared in Law Enforcement. A “unconditional love” for one an other.
I pray for your family, Trooper Cila. May you rest in peace in heaven, sir.

STUDENT TROOPER, JULY 25-29, 05

To the family and friends of Trooper Vincent Cila and his fellow officers with the Massachusetts State Police Department:

On behalf of our entire family, I wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Trooper Cila was tragically killed. His valor and dedication to his job will not be forgotten.

Our family grieves with you and for you. We share your agony as we lost our beloved Larry Lasater of the Pittsburg Police Dept. when he was fatally shot during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers on April 23rd. I am so sorry that another family has to face this devastating trauma.

May you be comforted by the caring and support of your law enforcement community, and other police survivors. There will be many who will be with you each step of this awful journey.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the twenty two years of distinquished service Vincent gave to his community as a police officer, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on July 22, 2005.

Dear Mrs. Cila,

My wife, Kathy, and I were out of the country and only learned of Trooper Cila's motorcycle accident upon our recent return from Karelia, Russia.

We would like to express our deepest and heartfelt condolences to you and your entire family for your loss.

My family and I experienced the passing of my father not so long ago, so we know that there are probably no mere words alone that can consol you.

This just comes to let you know that others are thinking about you, and to send our best wishes that hope and love may sustain and encourage you and your two children every day.
