Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff George Clifford Griffin, Sr.

Words can not say enough but, we mourn another hero that has been taken from us. My deepest sympathy to the family, friends and co-workers. May the Lord give you strength and bless each of you during this time. Remember these few verses taken from the KJB. In I Samuel 20:3 it says, And David sware moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly [as] the LORD liveth, and [as] thy soul liveth, [there is] but a step between me and death. In John 3:17 it says, For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. And in Philippians 1:21 it says, 21 For to me to live [is] Christ, and to die [is] gain.

December 21, 2005, as I write this, it is while tears stream down my face. I looked at our graduation picture today and it seemed if it was only yesterday we were there. I thank you for your support during those 12 weeks. I miss you and think of you daily. Patty and I speak once in awhile. I still have youe cell phone programed as 517 on my caller ID and can't seem to change it. I long for my friend and partner back, but I know that can't be. I cannot bring you back, but someday I will come to meet you. Continue in your rest my friend. With love and a heavy heart I will say goodbye for now.

To the family and friends of Deputy Griffin and his fellow deputies: I wanted to extend my deepest condolences on behalf of my family for the grievous loss you sustained when Deputy Griffin was tragically killed. You are in my thoughts and prayers. May you be comforted and embraced by the circle of love and support you will receive from the law enforcement community, and other police survivors. This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service George gave to his community and the citizens of Arkansas, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made in the line of duty. His dedication to his work will be forever remembered and his memory honored.

Dear Griffin Family,
Rest assured that your blue angel has not been forgotten. I know by the reflections left on these pages that he was a wonderful officer and affected many people in a positive way.
My husband was killed in the line of duty in September 2003. I would never say that I know what you're going through, but I do know the pain of losing my husband. For me, all I could do was take it day by day, breath by breath at times. Knowing that my husband will forever be remembered and honored means so much to me. I hope that you are able to make it to Washington in May for the police memorial. It is truly an awesome experience. It's so very hard to see our husband's name carved into that wall, but also wonderful to know that they will be remembered forever - long after we are gone. Even if you don't think that you will be emotionally ready to attend, please try. Your husband will be honored the way he deserves and it is a chance to meet other families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty. There, among the law enforcement family, you feel understood.
I plan to be there for my third year. The Akansas COPS Chapter will be there, too. We are all here for you.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Waters
