To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 50th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

Ben, I feel like I know you even though I was an infant when you died. I am amazed at the love that the people in the community still have for you even after all this time. I have gotten to know your daughters and they are wonderful women. You would be proud. Your photo and story will now hang in the police department for all to see. Thank you for your service and integrity. It meant something to the community. I hope that I will one day get to meet you. God Bless you, Ben and thank you.
