TO: The family; loved ones; friends and department members: A POLICE OFFICER’S PRAYER:--- O, gentle Lord ! Keep the day/night watch with me. As I begin my tour of duty, I ask your protection from all mental, physical and spiritual harm. Sustain me with the knowledge that I am doing your work, endeavoring to keep peace among your people. Help me to be just as I enforce the law without prejudice or favor to anyone. May I be courageous but not reckless in carrying out my duties. Let me respond to all calls with haste realizing that so many are dependent upon me for life and safety. Support me with your consoling power when I am tempted to think no one really cares and that I am taken for granted. Sustain in me the conviction that so many thousands do care and are grateful for my presence. Grant that I may be loyal to my partner and my fellow officers, and that I may back them up effectively when called upon for assistance. Lord, I ask that I may return safely, after my tour of duty, to my loved ones and those who love me. I pray that I may be a good and honorable police officer; and after my tour of duty is over here on earth, may I enjoy the peace and happiness of heaven that you have promised to those who serve you well. AMEN. *** REST IN PEACE ***

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

As a former employee and volunteer with the Phoenix Police Department, I was deeply saddened to hear of your passing yesterday. I pray that your murderers will be apprehended swiftly and be served with the justice their acts necessitate. My thoughts and prayers are with your family, your squad brothers, and the rest of the Phoenix Police Department during this difficult time. The immediate and concerned response of bystanders in the area is a testament to your service to the citizens of Phoenix. Thank you. God bless you and may you rest in peace.

To David: Rest in peace. You died a hero but lived to be one. My prayers are with you. God's Speed to you Sir.

To the family: You should be very proud of him not only for the bravery on his last day of watch, but for everything he did for the community within his 22 years of service. He is in safe hands now, and a far better place. He would want nothing more than for you to keep going on, living your lives and to make the world a better place just like he did. Even though the world is full of evil and violence we can still make a difference. May God Bless and comfort your family.

When I start my tour of duty God,
Wherever crime may be,
as I walk the darkened streets alone, let me be close to thee

Please give me understanding with both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention until their story’s told.
Let me never make a judgment in a rash or callous way,
But let me hold my patience let each man have his say

Lord if some dark and dreary night,
I must give my life
Lord, with your everlasting love
Protect my children and my wife.
- "policeman's prayer"

you will never be forgotten, may you rest in peace

Rest in peace good sir. May your murderers be dealt the swift hand of justice they so deserve for this senseless and cowardly act. May your family and comrades be comforted by your memory and in time may the tears be replaced with warm smiles of remembrance. Thank you for serving my community with diligence and bravery.

I come to the ODMP nightly hoping that the last date of an officers' passing will remain there for a time. Sadly, within a few days at most, there is always another loss. I offer my sincere condolences to the family of Officer Uribe. I read the account of this senseless disregard for human life - a man doing his job and with so much time invested in it - at the hands of some poor excuse for a human being who destroys that life and changes forever the impact he had on all those who knew and loved him. My prayers are for his wife, son and his fellow officers at this very tragic time. Know that other survivor families will read the ODMP and honor the memory of each officer who goes to his eternal home where he will be rewarded for not how he left his earthly home but rather for how he lived while here, protecting and giving his all. God bless him and all those he joins.

As we get ready to leave for Washington, our thoughts and prayers are with the Uribe family...as they were very much a part of ours. I can't believe we are doing this again, this soon. David, I am sure you already know, you are going to be with a great bunch of guys up there...you and Don can tell the "young guns" some stories of how it used to be...

I suppose we will always have the cowards like the one that took David from us today, but we have guys like Adam to keep the fire going and keep hunting them down. You will, on this day especially, be in our thoughts and prayers.

You will be missed, sir. Rest in Peace.

The coldhearted murder of Officer Uribe is devastating. However, may he rest in peace knowing that he was served his community well, and that family, friends, and co-workers will carry on his legacy. God bless you, brother.
