I knew Andy for a few years, although I did not work for the same agency we worked together a few times. Andy always had a smile, and could make everyone else smile. He did catch ribbing over his name and his moustache. Andy was a good man, and would have made a long career as a peace officer. It was said that some of the first people to bring flowers and condolences to the scene of the shooting were the local "crooks" , the same people that Andy and the other deputies dealt with on a regular basis. That is how tight a community we have in Llano County. It was an awesome display of respect and an incredibly emotional day for all of us in attendance at the funeral, seeing the hundreds of officers from all over the State of Texas and the firefighters, as well as the citizens of the county and city of Llano. The outpouring of respect and the "thank you's" and " god bless you" that we in uniform got from total strangers was deeply touching. I have been out of the county for 5 months now, and coming back to honor Andy made me personally recognize how tight of a brotherhood, a family, that we had in this small area. Andy will be missed by all who knew him and by all whom he served. God be with you , Andy, and save a spot for us. (the former 781)

While it is no consolation for your loss, remember that we, and many others in this country, appreciate the sacrifice that he made in his effort to ensure the safety of the public.

God bless.

Deputy Sheriff Andy Taylor,

You will never be forgotten in your community. May God be with your family in this time of need. I work just ten minutes from Battle Creek where a detective lost his life in the line of duty. You are true hero's. To Deputy Taylor's family, you too are hero's.

What little time I spent around Deputy Taylor before he became involved in law enforcement I came to know him as a person who didn't cause anyone any trouble. I haven't had much contact with him since he became involved in law enforcement but from what I knew of him he did his job well and cared about other people's well being. My condolonces go out to his family and friends. He will be missed in this community not only as a peace officer but as a human being.

It has been a sad day. We laid our friend and fellow officer to rest today. We will go on. For some it will be easier than others. It will never be the same. We will all miss Andy.

Thank you all for your help, your prayers, and your love.

At close of the service Sheriff Garrett left us with this radio broadcast:

"740 to all officers, all stations...752 is 10-7, 10-42. Goodbye Andy."

We will all miss Andy very much.

Although I did not personally know this person, I am compelled to grieve and appreciate all those who give their dedication and service to all of us who truly admire and deeply care about their efforts to make this a secure society for which many people do not understand the consequences.
