Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Detective Sergeant James Lloyd Allen

" Tell myself, on the ride home. Getting tired. Hating all I've known...Holding on. Like it's all I have. Count me out, when its clear that I... find it hard to say and you find it hard to care. I wanted to see some thing that's different. Something you said will change in me. Wanted to be, anything different. Everything you would change in me. Got this way. God I'm wrong it's just the way I am, crashing down. To see inside of me and die.I don't know what to say, it's fine. This isn't hollywood."

You did well sir... You shined.. Now Keep on Shining
YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN OUR MEMORY

Thank you for your service brother. Being a life long resident of the City of Providence, my family and I thank you for what you have done for us. My father (Ret. Providence Police Officer) served under the command of your father, and knew you personally. I was not able to meet you before your passing, but was honored to walk with you to your final resting place. I was only a reserve officer at the time, but felt like I lost a friend that day. Now that I'm a full- time sworn Police Officer, I understand the loss, and the effect it has on brother Police Officers, and most of all your family at home.

Det. Sergent James Allen, rest in peace brother. My wife and I pray for you and your family knowing the sacrifice's we make daily as Police Officers serveing the public as you have done for many years.

My deepest sympathy to your family on the first anniversary of your passing. I know it has been a long and rough road for them this past year and they have many more to come. I know how your father feels as I am also retired from law enforcement and lost a son in the line of duty. Never in a million years did we ever think we would see our son's names on a memorial wall. The only advice I can give to your Dad and other family members is to take one day at a time and keep your memory alive. I know your Dad, if he could, would trade places with you in a heart beat as I would do for my son. You are a true hero and will never be forgotten.

ANY BAD SUSPECT,WITH A PISTOL OR HANDGUN, THINK THAY CAN RULE THE WORLD,WITH MURDER,BUT IT HURTS SO BAD WHEN, BAD PEOPLE WITH GUN/FIRE ARMS FIRE LOUD GUN SHOTS AT POLICE OFFICERS,IN ORDER TO GET AWAY FROM POLICE WHO WANT TO ARREST AND LOCK UP THE BAD SUSPECTS,BUT POLICE OFFICERS HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO FIRE BACK AT SUSPECTS,WHO WANTS TO CAUSE A BLOOD BATH,AND KILL POLICE OR OTHER PEOPLE IN THIS DEADLY ACT,ITS SO PAINFUL FOR OTHER PEOPLE ANYWHERE.

To the family and friends of Detective Sgt. James Allen and his fellow officers with the Providence Police Department:

On behalf of our entire family, I wanted to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Detective Sgt. Allen was so brutally murdered. It is so infuriating to read of yet another murder by a criminal who would rather kill to evade arrest than pay the consequence for the criminal conduct he chose to commit. This was such a senseless and cowardly act, and to have it committed in the station itself is even more shocking. I am glad that the perpetrator was caught and hope justice is rendered in this case.

May you continue to find comfort in the warm embrace of support and love from your law enforcement community. Undergoing a devastating experience like this forges bonds between blood families and police families that can never be broken.

Our family lost our beloved Larry Lasater of the Pittsburg Police Department when he was fatally shot on April 23rd during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers. Larry left a loving wife and his son, born 2 1/2 months after Larry's murder, as well as all his extended family and friends who loved him so much. It is so heartbreaking that all these children are being deprived of their parents. My heart goes out to your family, but I know that God and James are watching over James' loved ones. I know that Heaven has another hero, but how I wish this horrific crime had not happened to your James.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the many years of service James gave to his community and the citizens of the state of Rhode Island, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on April 17, 2005.
