Reflections for Police Officer Jackson Vernon Lone

Jackson, looking at this memorial page is very heartbreaking. There have been so many officers before you and there are too many after you that have died in the line of duty. I am so sad to think of their families and their friends. Please know that your friends are there for your family. We will always honor you.

Jack,

We just wrapped up with opening day. You were in my thoughts today. We will always have a place in our hearts for you and your family. Your Mom is a wonderful mother and person. We will keep a watch over your family. You did good and made your mother proud of the person you became. Thank you my friend for everything. I miss you.

Honor and Pride...

Oficer Lone, I never knew you. From time to time when I am driving through Seattle and see the ship canal, I think of how you died. I did alot of risky things in the navy with boats, and I'm still here. I guess we never really know when our time will come. Anyway, on the aniversary of your death, quite by accident I saw the playground that was named after you. Thats a coincedence. Rest in peace, Jack.

Jack,

We have lost another officer this week. I keep wondering how this could happen...when we are still reeling from and mourning your loss? Take care of this young brother, and please continue to watch over us. We miss you and I think of you everyday. God Bless.

Hey Jack, Gerry graduated from the Washington State Police Academy yesterday at 1:30pm. John Barrett came too. We are all so proud of him and I know you are, too. Pete and your son pinned on his badge. We all talked about you and Mimi cried saying "Jack's supposed to be here for this." I hugged her and told her you were there with us, in our hearts....in spirit. We all miss you, Jack. I really wish I could have met you.

As I watched those new recruits up there on stage standing so proud and happy; exicted about starting their career in Law Enforcement, it brought back so many memories for me. I know what Gerry is facing and I know you do, too. Jack, help us watch over Gerry as he goes out with so much responsibility and danger staring him down. Bring other angels with you and help protect him. The thin blue line just got a little thicker. PS...you would have laughed...Gerry was the shortest guy up there on that stage, and when he gave the final dismissal to the recruits, he had the biggest/loudest mouth! =)

I graduate on may 25th, jackson. You should be pinning my badge as you did with oscar and pete, it is finally my turn, just like we planned it. Dawson and pete are doing it now, I hope you approve. We went out for brunch on mothers day and all my mom could do is talk about you. Oscar went to D.C.to see you at the national memorial. We miss you so much.I hope I can be half the cop you were.

Love, Jerry

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.

Tonight, March 16, 2006 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Police Officer Jackson Vernon Lone who died in the line of duty on this date one year ago.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Officer Lone’s sacrifice will never be forgotten.

To Officer Jack Lone, his wife and son Dawson, and his loved ones:

On this the first anniversary of your tragic death, please know that your memory is honored and revered today.

My heart goes out to your family. You’re in our thoughts and our prayers.
I hope that our paths cross in D.C.

Officer Lone, you rescued us, saved our possessions, our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication are awe-inspiring.

This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.

Rest in Peace, Officer Jack Lone. I am humbled by your valor and dedication.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Officer Lone gave to his community and the citizens of Washington, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on March 16, 2005.

We can't believe it...
One year is passed, since you've left us....
Jack, we miss you....

In September 2002 -during our holidays- we came to visit Seattle.
By chance we came to the Seattle Harbor Police Station - and there we have found friends!
We have spend a wonderful time with the guys there, especially with Jack and Matthew...! --They showed us their work on the boats - and we have had a lot of fun!!
Jack won our hearts with his friendlyness, his humour, --yes, with his special way to be !!
Normally we wanted to stay for 2 days in Seattle,- but at least we stayed for 5 days and continued our way later...!
Last year, in September 2005, we came back to Seattle....., we were looking forward to see all the nice guys from the Harbor Police again....--then the shock, when we heard about Jack's death....!!!

Jack, thanks for the great short time we are allowed to spend together !!
You are always in our hearts !
Our thoughts are with you, your wife, your son, your family, your friends and fellow officers! ---Take always care guys !!!!!

My thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and fellow officers of Officer Lone as the one year anniversary of his passing arrives.

My husband will be gone one year next Saturday. I don't know how so much time could have passed without him - yet has stood still at the same time. My heart aches for Jack's wife and baby; I know how difficult this past year has been for you as I am also left to raise my children alone. It's so hard, and so unfair. Please know that you are not alone, that many people are praying for and thinking about you during this most difficult and painful time. God bless you all.

May God also bless you, Officer Lone. May you continue to rest in eternal peace, safe in the arms of the angels.
