Reflections for Patrolman Thomas J. McMeekin, Jr.

Hi Tom,
I am sorry that I have not done this sooner. You were a brother to me and for that I will always be grateful. We will meet again someday.

April 8, 2005

To the family of Patrolman McMeekin. I won't try to understand the pain you are going through, even though my wife Austin Texas police officer Amy Donovan was struck and killed on 31 Oct 04 and I too have a 2 year old that I now will raise without my spouse. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with your family. Do not be afraid to reach out for help. I will light a candle today for Patrolman McMeekin. God bless.

I came upon this and wanted to share with all:

I never dreamed it would be me, my name for all eternity, recorded here at this hallow place, alas, my name, no more my face.
"In the line of duty," I hear them say: my family now the price to pay. My folded flag stained with their tears; we only had those few short years.
The badge no longer on my chest, I sleep now in eternal rest. My sword I pass to those behind, and pray they keep this thought in mind.
I never dreamed it would be me, and with heavy heart and bended knee, I ask for all here from the past: Dear God, let my name be the last.

I was on holiday near to Atlantic City on the day you died. It reminded me of the job we do and why we do it. You died serving your community. God bless and keep you.
