To Officer Eric Jay Van Fossan, and his loved ones:

Please know that your memory is honored and revered today.

My heart goes out to your family. You’re in our thoughts and our prayers.
I hope that our paths cross in D.C.

Officer Van Fossan, you rescued us, saved our possessions, our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication are awe-inspiring.

This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.

Rest in Peace, Officer Van Fossan.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Officer Van Fossan gave to his community and the citizens of Texas, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on February 26, 2005.

We are thinking of you on the first anniversary of your death. CHP just
lost a young officer to a heart attack,
too. The pain just seems to run
deeper in law enforcement. Our
thoughts are with your wife and sons
as well as the others who continue
to honor your memory and deal with
the loss. Time won't diminish your
sacrifice. Thank you for your 11 years of service.

Eric, what a fine man and policeman. I worked with you in the same squad and I sure remember the good times we shared. The times we would wait for traffic on certain roads. The conversations we had and shared. Yes, I remember you saying you loved your wife Edna and children. Thanks for teaching me and being part of my F.T.O Program. May God Bless you and your family "always" Rest in peace Officer 429 from your friend and police officer brother Frank Rodriguez, Jr. (former 488).

I remember when you came to the mall because you needed to take to me. I was working security and you told me you really liked the pretty girl who worked there (EDNA). You didnt know what to say, I told you I"ll help you out buddy. I asked her if she liked you, she said, yes, and I told her well he likes you. Yall were married and two officers became a couple.I miss you Eric, The talks by my home every morning, the war stories, when it is my time come pick me up for a beer in heaven, don't forget the chips.

To the family and friends of Eric Van Fossan and officers of the Eagle Pass Police Department:

On behalf of our entire family, we wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Officer Van Fossan died.

How sad that this dedicated officer died so young leaving a loving wife and children. Eric and Edna set such good examples for their children by working to protect and serve others.

May you all be comforted by the warm embrace of the circle of love and support you will get from the law enforcement community, and other police survivors.

Our family shares your agony as we lost our beloved Larry Lasater of the Pittsburg, Ca Police Dept. when he was fatally shot during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers. We grieve for you and with you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the years of dedicated service Eric gave to his community and the citizens of Texas, and the supreme sacrifice which he and his family made on February 26, 2005.
