Reflections for Sergeant Michael Allen Scarbrough

Hey Mike, just sitting here at work with Joe Weber again. We've both retired and are working together again. Miss ya Mike, watched the video from swat camp again and laughed. You had the best laugh I've ever heard.

Can't believe it's been so long that you've been gone now. Seems like only yesterday.

Love and miss you Brother!

I found myself thinking of you today and honestly can’t believe it’s been this long.
I remember the days back on Amherst street so well, then we all grew up.
I’m sure you’ve met up with Jimmy again my gosh, my little brother gone 23 years now. And yet now my daughter is with you all (Tabetha) and Geez Christmas here just 2 days away once again . Almost 2024 Already and I miss you all like crazy.
Gone way too soon every one of you

I found myself coming on this page as I randomly thought about you today. It’s crazy how often the number 33 comes into my life and how every single time I see it I immediately think of you. I think of you picking me up from the airport one time when I was little and turning on the lights and sirens for me just so I would feel like the coolest kid. Can’t believe it’s been over 18 years. Miss you.

I did not know Mike before learning of his life through his wife Denise at the 2022 Goshen (IN) Police Department Honor Camp. Through her willingness to share about her husband and his passing, I, and all who attended the Camp grew to appreciate this man and his love for his family and career as a Police Officer. He is missed, yet his dedication continues to be an inspiration to us all.

Sorry I didn’t know you or even knew your story I was sitting in the station at the airport and glanced up and saw your picture. I googled your name and now I know who you are what you stood for and the sacrifices you made. From reading all the responses one thing for sure you were loved. God Bless your Family.

We had a sweet boy in January of 2019 and named him Levi Michael. We always talk about how much you would have loved him. You would have been the best grandpa. Miss you.

Stopping by to say hi. Took Matthew by the memorial a few weeks ago. It was his first time seeing your name in stone. He seemed overwhelmed by it all. Was able to get him in to the Law Enforcement Museum even though it was closing. Felt like you were walking with us. I sure miss you Mike.

30 years ago today we said I do. Thinking about all that has changed since that day. So very grateful for the life we started together and the blessings our love created. Love you always.

I don't know if this is an inappropriate thing to say, but if it gets deleted I understand. I'll never forget that day. I was one of the firefighters from two separate fire departments that responded to that scene on I-94.

I ended up driving you to the hospital while the paramedics worked on you in the back of the ambulance. I will never forget the police escort all the way to the hospital. I remember the officers escorting to the hospital gave us clear roads to get you there. I remember the roads were bad, but I was flying to get you there in time. Unfortunately, it was too late. I'll never forget your face or that day. It will stick with me forever.

To this day, I wish there was something else I could've done. Could we have worked harder, faster or could I have driven even faster to the hospital.

If the family sees this, I just want to say i'm sorry for your loss.

Never forgotten brother. I still think about you often and laugh at all the good times at the airport. Its hard to believe is been almost 11 years. The nickname you gave me stuck and Ill always be known as "Donkey" . I wouldn't change it for anything but I never did figure out if it was some Shrek reference or you thought I was being a jack~~~ lol . Either way I try to remember all the things you taught me during my training. Miss ya bro.

Tomorrow you would have turned 50. It still surprises me when an event like this brings up so many memories. I remember your last birthday when you turned 39 you said you couldn't see yourself turning 40. Little did we realize that the next month you would be gone. All good memories and the love and life we shared are free floating through my mind and heart. Love you boo.
