To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 110th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace

Far too often railroad police officers are not noticed or not acknowledged. I am glad to see Detective Hanson honored here. Justice may be blind, but these officers are the healthy eyes of the rails. God bless William J. Hanson, and his fellow high-iron officers for their work and countless sacrifices.

Detective Hanson, today marks the 230th birthday of our nation and the 104th anniversary of your tragic death. It is a terrible mixture of great joy and great sadness. In all of this time, I know you and Patrolman Cosgrove continued to patrol the rails and watch over your families.

I pray that you both and your friend who died with you are Resting in Peace. God Bless you all.
