Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer James Mitchell Prince

Just got back from D.C. I went to the wall where your name was placed. I can't believe it has been 6 years. You are still greatly missed. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you.

6 years have gone by and It still feels like it was yesterday I was left with memories and pictures of you. I love you dad and I want to make you proud of me in everything that I'm doing in life. I want you to watch over me in the future because I start my BLET training at the end of the month. I can't wait to see you again.

Not a day goes by that I don't think about you. Every time i put this uniform on i say a prayer, and then think back to some of the things that we use to do. You use to tell me that there is good in everyone. I still remember that, and try to keep that in mind when dealing with all that we deal with. can't wait to see you again.

Forgive me for missing the anniversary of your E.O.W., but I felt as though I could not continue to read about so many tragedies. I now realize the visit each day to leave a word of encouragement and hope to the loved ones of others, helps me to remember that I am not alone with my pain and heartbreak. So may I say to your friends and loved ones that my thoughts and prayers are with them now and always. Continue to keep watch over them and those still out on patrol and may they know you will never be forgotten.

MITCH,
WHILE WE HAVE NEVER MET I WORK WITH DAILEY EVERYDAY, WHICH AFTER READING HIS REFLECTION TODAY I THINK I WORK WITH YOU EVERYDAY TOO. DAILEY IS FULL OF STORIES INWHICH YOU ARE IN MOST OF THEM. I WILL NEVER FORGET THE FIRST TIME I HEARD THE STORY OF WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU, DAILEY, HIS FTO AND I WERE EATING LUNCH AT WENDY'S. THAT IS ALSO WHERE I TOLD HIM ABOUT SGT. JAMES HARDIN WHO WAS ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS WHO HAD A HEART ATTACK AT THE AGE OF 35 ON 01/11/2007. IF YOU CAN FIND HIM I THINK YOU MIGHT ENJOY HIS COMPANY I KNOW WE DID HERE. I TOO LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU ONE DAY. REST IN PEACE BROTHER.

It's been five years, and there's still not a day that goes by that I do not think about you or that night. I still feel responsible, knowing I was suppose to be working with you that night. That is something I will carry on my shoulders until I am called to be with you. You taught me more than I could have ever taught you. You touched the lives of many people that will never forget you. I look forward to the day that I am able to patrol the streets in heaven with you!

Officer Prince,
I attended your Funeral as a Deputy in 2005 and it really touched me. I had lost a friend and fellow LEO Brother in 2004 so it hit home once again being there to pay respect to you and your family. God Bless You Brother Officer and Christian. I will never forget what the Pastor said about you and your heart for others. We will see you in Heaven. Until then we will protect the best way we know how until

Mitch,
I didn't really know you that well, only in passing but your memory says enough. Every day when I pass that place I pray for your family. Keep us safe down here. We'll see you soon.

My husband was the Caswell Beach Police officer that was shot at that night. I think of you often & wish it could have been different. I pass by the memorial every day & think of all the sacrifices all officers make every day. Love, Melinda

Im writing a paper tonight, to turn into my english class in the morning, with your story as my thesis. I am to write about an event in my life that has changed me. I remember vividly the night both my parents were called out to assist you, I immediatley sat up in bed and began to pray. Each day/night my dad leaves to go to work, I repeat that same prayer as I prayed for you that night. "Lord, put a sheild around this man, as he puts his life on the line to protect mine, He is strong, Lord, but no man could amount to your strength.Lord, if it is your will for him to never return home, I will accept that, and my heart will recieve peace in knowing he is with you, praising your name, and protecting from above. Thank you endessly for your courage and loyalty to your city, We think of you often, and miss you every day.
