Yet another tragedy created by a coward. You patrol the golden streets of heaven with the other heroes who have also given the ultimate sacrifice. You sit at the feet of Jesus and your crown and mansion are ready for you. Although our hearts are breaking and we grieve your leaving, for it was much to soon, we understand that God called your name and an angel grabbed your hands and led you home. I will pray for your family and your children, that they will know God's peace and their hearts will be held by the hand of God. For their husband and father was a true hero.

Rest in peace brother. Your service made the people in California safer and you will be sorely missed

Police Officer Chris Cannon
North Las Vegas Police Dept

January 11, 2005

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

Gonzales family, you are in the thoughts and prayers of us all. Be strong in this time of loss and know that God is in everything, even this tragic event. As hard as it is right now, may we someday find the blessing meant for us in this. I personally know that this strengthens my resolve to continue on in my work, fighting the good fight, just as Manuel did.

Officer Gonzales, rest in peace.

Correctional Officer's Farewell

We all know it can happen,
When we put our Colors on.
It only takes an instant,
Then one of us is gone.

Day to day we walk our beat,
In God we put our faith.
'Cause we're the law inside the wall,
We keep the Public safe.

You've done the job that few can do,
Your shift is at an end.
Farewell my Brother, Rest in peace,
On you we could depend.

Rest in peace brother.

"Let not your heart be troubled you believed in God, believe also in me".

Jesus left these words of comfort to a group of people that were faced with much loss, confusion and sorrow. Much like the family, co-workers and friends of officer Gonzales. I pray that they will bring comfort and hope to every one that is feeling sorrow, confusion and loss. May God be with you and Officer Gonzales be with God.
