Reflections for Corrections Officer Manuel Ariza Gonzalez, Jr.

I JUST WANTED TO EXPRESS MY CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY OF OFFICER GONZALEZ. I DIDN'T HAVE THE PLEASURE OF KNOWING OFFICER GONZALEZ, BUT WHAT I CAN SAY, IS THAT HIS LOSS HAS GREATLY AFFECTED ME.

While all our prayers go out to your children, and there mother.
God be with you in this time of sadness, and may he help you all make since of this awful madness.

To my Brother Manuel: Although we never met, I know you. Your my brother who walks the tier of "The Toughest Beat." A job that nobody ever thanks you for doing. A job that most people criticize you for, because they don't understand what you go through on a daily basis. A job that administrators and supervisors are constantly looking for something to bring adverse action against you. A job that you are proud to be doing to provide a good life for your family. A job where your top priority is for you and all of your brothers and sisters to go home safely to the only people who understand your sacrifices. YOUR FAMILY. Manuel, you are a part of my family and you will always be in our prayers. I wish there was a way I could have been there for you, when you needed me most. Manuel, please watch over me while I walk the tier and give me the ability to be there to protect our brothers and sisters at the moment they need me most. To Manuel's family: Thanks for letting Manuel be a part of my family.

Farewell Brother...your tragic experience only emphasizes how badly the death penalty needs to be enforced more strenuously. The world don't need such animals and would be a better place without them. We are proud you are one of us. Rest assured your loved ones are not alone. We are but a phone call away.

Gonzo, may your family find the strength and love during this healing process. I will pray for you and your family. I will miss you, miss the way (like Danny said) you answer the phone, miss you manipulate a defenseless toothpick, miss you bugging me for a a holiday or vacation, miss you taking care of business at work. I feel fortunate that I got to know you. I know you'll be looking over your partners, watching them from above. Rest in peace Gonzo, and rest assured that you will be missed by your CDC family. God Bless your Family, your friends and your loved ones.

I am saddened by another one of our brothers lost so senselessly. As an officer we deal with all the dirt outside the walls, but once we hand them over the true heros take over. The the brothers and sisters that work within the walls, you are always on my mind after leaving an unruly subject in your hands. Never think you are the forgotten ones. To C/O Gonzalez may God hold you close and your family closer. You can now rest in peace for you have joined the other heroes that have gone before you. Just remember that you have a family that reaches around the world and we will never let your memory fade, for true heroes are never forgotten.

Rest in Peace.
