Somebody Killed a Correctional Officer today and A Part of America died. A piece of our country he swore to protect will be buried with him at his side. The inmate that killed him will stand up in court, with counsel demanding his rights, While a young widowed mother must work for her kids, and spend many long, lonely nights. The beat that he walked was a battlefield too, Just as if he'd gone off to war. Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast, To his name they will add a gold star. Yes, Somebody Killed A Correctional Officer today, In your town or mine. While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors, A Correctional Officer put his life on the line. Now his ghost walks the toughest beat in nation, and he stands at each new rookie's side. He answered the call, of himself gave his all, And a Part of America died. God Bless !!!!

I first met Manuel when he came to CIM and was working in the MSF Culinary. Manuel was always kind to all, had a smile for everyone he greeted. He was always there to help someone in there time of need. I was fortunate to have Manuel as a friend and co-worker. I will miss him deeply!

A Brother Warrior has fell and died today in battle.

This Brother Warrior has made the ultimate sacrifice.

He has given his life for his Fellow Warriors, his family and friends too.

Brother Warrior, pass your sword to us, so we can keep your spirit alive.

You, my Brother Warrior will not be forgotten.

God Bless you, your family and your friends.

We honor and respect all of the Fallen Warriors who have gone before us.

We ask you, Brother Warriors to guide us, protect us and pray for us.

We will meet again my Brother Warriors.

For this time not to fight another battle, but to live in eternal peace.

Rest in Peace brother in brown, you will not be forgotten. May your wife and children know you are the most brave, you walked the line without a weapon and never flinched, tolerated the most terrible insults and were still able to love, and and did your 17 flat knowing you had to go back the next day, for them. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.

My words can not express what I feel inside over this senseless murder! Please know you are in the thoughts and prayers of many - may you find some comfort in that. This is a terrible road you have to walk now - just know you are not alone, there are many people who care and are there for you.

I first met C/O Gonzalez in 1997 at CIM. I was impressed with his demeanor, his being. Gonzo's uniform was always pressed and his boots and brass glistened as did his pride in the profession he had chosen. Gonzo always presented himself with pride, dignity and respect. The last time I saw him he was doing an overtime shift at RC West. He was telling me of how proud he was of his kids (ALL OF THEM). He always spoke so true of his children. As I look back I am so happy to have worked that shift with him that night knowing what we know now. I will forever be able to remember him as the good person and professional Correctional Officer that he was. Correctional Officer Gonzalez will forever be in our hearts, our souls and he will forever have our backs as we walk amongst the worst of the worst. God Bless you Gonzo and your family as well. With respect.
