Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Bryan Scott Hurst

Rest in peace, Sir! You will never be forgotten.

Bryan
As Rob told you, I took your picture and plaque from Canyon Center.
I am going to give both of them to him.
He is going to keep the plaque and he is going to hang your picture next to your uniform at the FOP office.
Canyon Center closed but that doesn't mean that we will forget what you did for us.
We will never forget your sacrifice.
Keep us safe from up above.
Until we meet again...
Love

Bryan-

Stopped at the cemetery the other day! It had been a long time since I had been there. You have such a presence even there. The reflections seem to be far and few between, but don't think any of us have forgotten you. Thank you so much for giving yourself for us! You are my hero! Rest gently!

Bryan,

The bank is moving out of the Canyon Center branch on June 14th. We have continued working there since the day that you gave your life in an effort to continue to protect those that you protected so well. The customers who frequent that branch continue to remember you and talk about you and what you did for everyone... and how you are a hero. We will not be hired for special duty down the road with the bank when they go, but the employees have given their word that just because it is a different location they will never forget what you gave for them and the customers. Since the building will be sold at Broad and McNaughten we have taken down your plaque and picture so it will not be lost. The customers already miss it and ask where it has gone. Just remember....nobody has forgotten and we never will.

Well the benefit went pretty well. Marissa showed some skills and made the final table. We dedicated your shadowbox to the FOP and hopefully we'll be putting it in the bar. I felt that would be a better location for it. Now all of us can have a beer with you when we go in there. Plus whenever civilians use our facility they'll be reminded of your sacrifice and dedication to duty.

I attended the appeals hearing for Darryl Lawrence. It was impressive to see the officers, family and attorney presence to let the judges know how much this meant for us. We will do all we can to make sure justice is served from your death. A few hours after our return, two of our NTAC officers were shot. It was just another reminder of how difficult and dangerous our job is getting to be. Continue to watch over us all.

Rest in peace brother, we'll get it from here!!

Bryan, Sorry I missed leaving a message on your birthday. I'm working on having a "show of presence" at the appeals hearing next week in Cincinnati. We will be praying the right thing is done in their decision!!! Keep watching over us...

Happy Birthday Bryan!!! In your honor I baked the chocolate frosted brownies you enjoyed for my staff. It gave me the opportunity to remind everyone how much we take for granted each and every day. We discussed the need to take time and thank those who touch our lives in small ways. You are and always will be my #1 hero. Gone from this earth, but always in the hearts of so many.
Fondly,

I haven't posted anything here before. There is no real rhyme or reason, aside from the fact that it's upsetting. I hold on to all of the great memories and realize what a special brother I have. Some of the things you would say or do make a whole lot more sense now.

Just in case you don't remember, you beat me with Pittsburgh our last game of Madden. Hopefully I will be able to get that rematch 1 day.

I visited your grave just before Easter to honor your memory. Not a day goes by that I am reminded of your sacrifice. All my close friends have your badge number on their cars. Continue to watch over all of us. Miss you and keep you close to my heart.

Happy Easter Bryan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

March 23, 2008

Bryan,

I have been working all night and I am sitting at the desk thinking of all the good times that we had at K-bay. There were many nights on the flight line that we would just sit and talk about everyone else and what they had done to piss us off. You were a good friend and I will always be greatful for the times we had. I still stay in contact with Slusser and we talk about you from time to time.

I miss you and keep an eye on me.

I've been thinking about you again a lot. Actually I don't know when I don't think about you. I don't have much to say that I have not said before. You are my hero. I wish you were here and that day never happened. I live life to the fullest now. You never know what can happened. Thank you.

Not sure what to say. I think about you from time to time. Still get a little irritated by what happened. I wish it didn't happen to you. Office Tormasi was a friend of my father's. I was on the phone with a CPD officer the night he died. I was on the phone with him for 3 hours almost, worried what was going to come of it. I thought of you frequently during the 3 hours. As soon as I heard on the radio to cancel med-flight, I thought how sad I was for you. And him. I dunno and will never know why it happened. I'm sorry. (Guess I had something to say afterall, huh?)
