Last Call

What a precious soul, this lost
Why must the good, always pay the cost?
Rest in peace sir, in the arms of God
Thank you for your service, in your job

I read so much, in what was reflected upon
So much admiration, in all you have done
The true measures of a man, the right height
You had a belief, in all your reasons to fight

I didn't know you, I live miles away
But it tears me up, as they put you to lay
You helped so many, wearing the blues
Not just anybody, can fill those shoes

I pray for your family, to ease the tears they cried
I know the pain hurts, but they must be filled with pride
To be a part of you, and all you stood for
So high in life, you have set the bar

Rest in peace my brother, as gently you lie
Heaven waits, as I wipe the tears from my eye
You have done your best, stand proud and tall
A moment of silence, as you take your last call

Dirk was a good friend, an outstanding officer and a fellow FTO. He loved his job, the people he did it with and those he did it for.

Dirk, you are missed! But you have years of service left as those who worked with you, and those you've trained to work solo, continue on.

Rest in peace, brother ~ 129, 10-42.

I worked with Dirk personally on the same night shift for over 2 years. Anyone who knew Dirk couldn't help but like him. He was a great friend, excellent officer and loved his job. God bless his family in illinois and brother in houston.

God bless Dep. Knearum and his family in this difficult time. And, remember this.....we are not alone. Sometimes, as Police Officers we think no one cares, but that's not true. Two Nurses, Kurt and Judy, called my house and were crying because they were unable to save Dep. Knearum on the roadside. We care, they care, and God cares. Rest in peace my brother. We won't forget. TO: The family; loved ones; friends and department members: A POLICE OFFICER’S PRAYER:--- O, gentle Lord ! Keep the day/night watch with me. As I begin my tour of duty, I ask your protection from all mental, physical and spiritual harm. Sustain me with the knowledge that I am doing your work, endeavoring to keep peace among your people. Help me to be just as I enforce the law without prejudice or favor to anyone. May I be courageous but not reckless in carrying out my duties. Let me respond to all calls with haste realizing that so many are dependent upon me for life and safety. Support me with your consoling power when I am tempted to think no one really cares and that I am taken for granted. Sustain in me the conviction that so many thousands do care and are grateful for my presence. Grant that I may be loyal to my partner and my fellow officers, and that I may back them up effectively when called upon for assistance. Lord, I ask that I may return safely, after my tour of duty, to my loved ones and those who love me. I pray that I may be a good and honorable police officer; and after my tour of duty is over here on earth, may I enjoy the peace and happiness of heaven that you have promised to those who serve you well. AMEN. *** REST IN PEACE *** Sent to you by the father of Master Officer J.D.Koeppen, Capital City Raleigh North Carolina; Trooper D.C.Koeppen, New Jersey State Police and Cadet Officer A.M.Koeppen, Wilmington North Carolina.
