I never thought that I would see the day that I would have to say goodbye to you. Somehow even today, through all the tears and sadness, thinking of the laughes that we shared, somehow brought a smile to my face.

Brandy, you were a wonderful person and I will forever miss you.

My heart is filled with the deepest sympathy for the Winfield family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sometimes my heart is just too heavy to try to write something so at
times it takes awhile before I feel like I can respond. My heart feels OUTRAGE!!! for the officer and his family and for their GREAT loss. How much pain there is in all of this! To the sweet children who will never again experience their Daddy's touch and love, to the wife who must go on without her husband's help and support, to the parents who should never have to bury their children, to the siblings, other relatives, friends and co-workers who must continue with such a void in their lives, I am truly sorry for your pain. This is God size pain, but Christ is able to carry
our burdens. There is none greater than Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We don't get to Heaven based on what we do, but what He did for us by dying on that cross for everyone's sin. AMEN! There is now a huge void that cannot be filled. God be with all those who mourn and may His promises lift all those with heavy hearts for many years to come.
What a canyon of grief!

I never dreamed it would be me,
My name for all eternity,
Recorded here at this hallowed place
Alas, my name, no more my face.

"In the line of duty, " I hear them say:
My family now the price to pay.
My folded flag stained with their tears;
We only had those few short years.
The badge no longer on my chest,
I sleep now in eternal rest.
My sword I pass to those behind,
And pray they keep this thought in mind.

I never dreamed it would be me,
And with heavy heart and bended knee,
I ask for all here from the past:
Dear God, let my name be the last.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children OF GOD.

Policeman's Final Judgment

The policeman stood and faced God.

Which must always come to pass,

He Hoped his shoes were shining,

Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now patrolman how shall I deal with you."

"Have you always turned the other cheek?"

"To my church have you been true?"

The policemen squared his shoulders and said.

"No Lord I guess I ain't, cause those of us that

carry badges can't always be a saint."

"I've had to work on Sundays, and at times the talk was rough,

And sometimes, I've been violent, cause the streets are awfully tough."

"But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep.

I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills just got too steep.

I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear.

And sometimes God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place, among the people here.

They never wanted me around, except to calm their fear.

But if you've a place for me up here Lord, it needn't be so grand.

I never expected or had too much, so if you don't I'll understand."

There was silence all around the throne, where saints have often trod.

The policemen waited quietly, for the judgment day of God.

"Step forward now policemen, You've borne you burdens well."

Come walk a beat on Heavens streets, you've done you time in hell."

Thanks for your service brother Winfield. Thoughts and prayers to your family and fellow officer.

We knew Brandy from High School. He was truly a wonderful person. I never met anyone who didn't like him.

He had always wanted to be in Law Enforcement. He died doing what he loved.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all.

It is very difficult to express one's true feelings when we learn another officer has died. My first thoughts are of extreme anger toward the coward(s) who took Deputy Winfield's life. Then I feel extreme sadness for his family, friends and fellow officers. I have talked to many officers who also feel guilt. Guilt because they were spared or weren't there to help. You died a true hero Deputy Winfield. Your memory will live forever. Thank you for all you did. Rest in peace sir.

Vermilion County Illinois Sheriff's Dept.
