Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Brandy Lyn Winfield

Yet another warrior has fallen. As the thin blue line continues, the thoughts and prayers go out to the friends, family and co-workers of Deputy Winfield. "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God". Matthew 5:9

After seeing the picture of Deputy Winfield with that darling young boy... It tore my heart out. I found this on the internet and I can only imagine how his children are feeling.

God Speed Deputy Winfield, Prayers & Respects to Your Family.

A Prayer for the Surviving Children:

Dear God, I Miss My Daddy
My daddy is a policeman, he wears a suit of blue;
he didn't come home from work last night,
mommy says he's in heaven with you.

I'm worried about my daddy Lord,
he's never been away this long before;
mommy cried when she told me we that wouldn't see daddy no more
I don't know what it was that mommy was trying to explain; she said the police were after a bad man, and somehow my daddy was slain.

Now I don't know what that means Lord, all I know is we miss daddy a lot;

Lord if my daddy is up there in heaven, please tell him as soon as he is free;
to hurry back home as fast as he can, because we miss him, mommy and me.

I have never had the opportunity to meet you face to face, but I along with many other officers have a answered a "simple" disabled vehicle call. Let this be a reminder to all of us who do the job we love, NEVER take any call for granted and always look out for each other! May god bless you and your family in your time of sadness. Rest in peace knowing that your son has many "father" figures that will be there for him if he ever needs it.

My heart breaks for the family and friends of Deputy Winfield. I am without words that can describe their immense feeling of loss.

As I read the circumstances of Deputy Winfields death, My eyes welled up with tears and my heart just sank. My husband is also a law enforcement officer, and I am just terrified of the violence and hatred that officers face everyday.

I visit this site often. Probably too often. Some say it's depressing or difficult to face the harsh reality that our officers are dieing everyday while serving a community they love. I think paying final respects to those who deserve it is commendable.

My hope is that the loved ones of Deputy Winfield will find it in their hearts to honor him for the life he lived. I pray they find peace and comfort together so that they may get through this horrible tragedy.

Deputy Winfield, please watch over your brothers and sisters in blue.
Rest In Peace. You are forever a hero.

Dep. Winfield, Though I have never met you I wear the same uniform. I hated to have to put my black band on my badge again. As you know the person that caused your death has been caught. Sounds like he didn't get too far until your fellow deputies got him. I wanted to attend your funeral, but I had to work. Several of our deputies attended and said it was very respectful and done very well. Know that your family and co-workers will always be in our thoughts and prayers. You will not be forgot. God bless you black shirt. Watch over us all.

Brandy,

There is not enough words that can explain how much I will miss working with you. I am honored to have worked with you these past 5 years. I will cherish the memories of the times we had together. You were not just a co-worker, but also a friend and a brother. I am glad we had some time together to talk the last night we worked together. I will always remember you holding Landon in your arms the last day I saw you.
You were a great husband, father and Deputy. This world will not be the same without you. I will miss you dearly. We are all so proud of you. Brian Brown

I did not know Officer Winfield personally,but I do know how horrible it is to loose an Officer. Kelli Lee Lambert was killed last year and she was very dear to us all here in Jackson Ohio. I cried when I heard the news about Brandi, but Brandi we all know that the Lord has his arms around you now and no one can ever hurt you again. Rest in peace, you will never be forgotten. Police officers put their lives on the line everyday for all of us. The whole world should respect these officers not hurt them.
My prayers are with your family. Your son is a hero. God Bless You All.

On behalf of the Indianapolis F.O.P. #86 Auxiliary we send our deepest condolences to the family, friends and coworkers of Deputy Winfield. Two months ago today our department and community suffered the tragic loss of one of our own hero's, and four other officers injured. A short time later, another officer was taken from us, both by gunfire. Find strength in knowing that we are all with you in your time of grief and sorrow. While no one can take away the pain your are feeling, please remember that you are not alone and never will be. Stay safe, stay strong!
