To the family: Since this has happened, I have felt, stunned, empty and sick. I know it is nightmarishly worse for you and his friends. The only comfort and wisdom I can offer is this, above all else, let us all accept Jesus Christ, our Savior, and follow Him, so that we may all be re-united, together, never to be separated again, in His glorious Kingdom. For it is there Jake waits for us, to always be together. May Almighty God bless and keep you, till we meet again.

Mrs Laird,and family.
It is with sad heart that I must write this note. I can offer no words to stop the hurt or heal your broken heart. Time however, will offer you some sense of recovery, and know that you shall meet again.God bless.

When we say good-bye to a loved one, we beg for an end too.
Make the pain and the suffering be done, put life back to what we knew.
But as we look back on the time spent together we realize we were truly blessed.
Because we will have the happy memory forever, and now a guardian angel is ours upon request.

Jake I didn't know you as well as I would have liked, but everytime I saw you you seemed to have a smile on your face. I will always remember the first time I met you. I was just hired onto 911 dispatch and you had only been on IPD for a year. I had to do a ride a long w/ you as part of my training and the first thing I noticed about you is that you had such a love for your job and what you did. You never lost that love for your job and I always admired that about you. You will be missed greatly but will always live on in the hearts and minds of those that knew you best.

To the family of Officer Laird, my heart goes out to you. There is a strong support group within the police department that will be there for you. To the Indianapolis Officers, We lost a fellow brother last year in a senseless shooting just as you now have experienced. The hurting will go away over time, but the memory will last a lifetime. I will keep you and yours in my thoughts as I load up my car to hit the streets. Rest in peace Brother Laird, we have the watch from here.

I lost a brother on the job earlier this year. To Officer Laird's wife and family, I promise you will get through this. It has been six months since we lost my brother and I can now go about my daily life. You will never forget him but the memories will not be so sad, they even become happy ones. Although I never met Timothy I can see from his picture he took pride in himself and the job. Let the department and the community help you get through this. To the Indianapolis Police Department keep your chins up and continue the fight. Without you guys, the hero(s) that ended this mess, as well as the wounded officers and Timothy, this maniac was going to do more. As hard as it is to accept Officer Laird made the ultimate sacrifice and that is noble. The Laird family, the department, community, and the country should be very very proud. Timothy Jacob Laird went from a very dangerous place to a very safe place and he will now guard the Gates Of Heaven.
