Reflections for Patrol Officer Trey Michael Hutchison

Trey just checking in. A Texas Trooper was killed last week. When I heard the news I thought of you. Thank you for sharing part of your life with us, hope to see you some day.

Trey...We sure miss you and think of you often. I can still hear your laugh, and I thank God for that gift. I can also still see your smile, and thank him for that too.
We lost a Trooper last night in a way that brought back the horrible events that took you from us. I know you both are probably with each other now, with all the other heroes...We always know your there. Help us, and guard us, please. All our love

My Dearest Treysome,
Merry Christmas...you are having the best Christmas of all...being right there with Jesus! He is the reason we have this celebration at all! I can't wait until we are all there with you!!! You are missed so much and loved so much...tonight at the Christmas Eve service at church, someone came up to us and introduced herself and shared with us about how special you were to her son...
Tonight I thank God for the special gift of His son, Jesus Christ, who died on a cross to save all of us who accept Him. And, I thank God for the special gift of you, Trey, you gave your life doing what God called you to do... Continue to watch over all the other LEO's who have dedicated their lives to protect us...Our blue light will always shine for you, those that unfortunately will follow you and especially for those that are still out there on the streets, protecting us...We love you Trey, Merry Christmas, All our love eternally, Mom and Dad

My Dearest Treysome,
Another holiday season is here and you aren't...this is our 4th Thanksgiving without you, sometimes I still can't believe it...it will just hit me, "Trey's not here with us on this earth anymore"...I know we haven't "lost" you...I know where you are...I just miss you being here. I want to hug you and hear you laugh. Tonight Kelsi and Bailey wanted to watch old videos, (of course the ones they were in)...but there you were, so full of life, fun, laughing... even when Kelsi was just 1-2 years old, she loved you so much and you loved her and gave her so much attention, it was great and it was hard, watching you & Luke, Heidi & Micah, Kelsi & Bailey having so much fun together....
Today we focused on being thankful and grateful for our time together as a family, and especially for Luke and Britney's baby boy, due in April! I know you will be an awesome uncle...your nephew will know all about his "Uncle Trey".
I miss you so much, especially during the holidays, because you loved them so much and were such a part of all the celebrations...you couldn't miss anything! I know that you are having the best celebrations of all now, everyday being with Jesus is Christmas! But being your mom I still want you to be here with us...someday we will all be celebrating together again! I love you and miss you more than words can ever express... All my love eternally, Mom

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

I'm so sorry Trey...I just don't know what to say. I can't believe that it has been three years already. It's unreal how much of a prescence you still have with our officers. Lots of stories about "Hutch" are told, and I thank God that I can still see your smile, and hear your laugh. You were, and always will be, a big part of my life, and will forever be in the heart of our department. We miss you very much! but...it is a relief knowing that you are already on the other side should our time come soon. Rest well Trey...
