Reflections for Police Officer LaToya Nicole Johnson

I was talking with another former NOPD officer today about our time there. My lieutenant was saying how much I must love my new job here since every time he sees me in the hallway, I'm always smiling. Wow! That brought an instant flashback to you, LaToya. I remember when you stopped me in the hallway at NOPD headquarters and said I was always smiling and to keep smiling since it brightened everyone else's day. I never forgot that, and I always to try to keep smiling in remembrance to you. You were so nice, always smiling yourself, and are really missed.

Hi Toya
It's been awhile but I will never forget the time we spent at UNO. I recently went to your station house. I hadn't been there since Tasha died. I recall the morning I ended my shift, I drove to your grave site and prayed you would meet her at St Peters Gate.
I sensed something was going to happen on I-10, at the exact spot. I prayed to God that if anyone of us should not make it home, don't let that person suffer. The fact that her car was demolished and she didn't have a scratch on her. She just looked like she was peacefully sleeping. I feel so guilty like it was meant for me.
Same as you she left behind a beautiful daughter. I hope y'all have met and are watching over us. If I could switch places with either of you I would so you could be here.

The one thing I remember about her, was she was always smiling. It's hard to believe that someone could kill another person for no reason. But this wicked world in which we live in it's not surprising. I pray for your daughter and mother because they are the ones who have to endure not seeing you everyday, or being able to call and say are you alright. RIP Toya. May your smile continue to shine in others.

Missing you. I have yet to meet a friend who is as witty and smart elic as you. I'm reminiscing about the antics you used to pull at lunch when we went to the Chinese buffet and let me not mention the show you put on when we got sprayed with O.C. spray. You took it like the champ you are. I can't believe it been 10 years. Seems like yesterday when we were in English class at UNO.
