Reflections for Police Officer Michael Patrick Gordon

Merry Christmas Mike. Was with your two brothers and their families last night. Your niece and nephews really don't remember you, so I tell stories about you and your brothers when you were younger. Miss you every day. Please keep watch over all of them and your children. You will never be forgotten. Love, Dad

Dear Mike, we were at your brother Bob's for Xmas Eve yesterday where we gathered for the holiday with the Gordon Clan. Your nephews and nieces are getting big, some already in college. Your sons are out of state living their lives in this crazy world we are trying to live in. Watch over all of them for us as Dad and I are getting older and not in the best of health. You have been loved and missed everyday since you passed 18 years ago. Love, Mom

Johnny Mac joined you last week. Now you two can partner up and be back on patrol. Your son Cullen is still going strong in the Dallas Police Academy. Long academy, almost 9 months. Keep watching over him. Same for Malik, he's on the west coast trying to use his environmental degree in finding a job. Watch over both of them. Grace is in Art School, sure didn't take after me, I can't even draw stick men. Keep her under your wings. Love and miss you, never forgotten. Keep an eye on Mom and the rest of the family.

Hey Airborne this is your classmate Air assault Desert Storm/Desert Shield Combat. Man we are coming up on our 20 year anniversary on CPD. I remember when we first joined and were very proud and excited to have joined the historic courageous family in BLUE. Your name always comes up when our classmate are talking about our experience in the police academy. Man i tell you that you had always showed professionalism in everything that you had done and i will always remember your great personality and huge smile. Brother you will never be forgotten and we will be forever connected. Until we meet again my brother, class of CPD 02-10.

Today is the 18th anniversary of losing you. It's been a long and lonely road without you with us. Your children are all grown up, boys both graduated from college and one is following in your footsteps, he will be a 3rd generation in law enforcement Officer. Please watch over all of them. Not a day goes by where I don’t think of you. I’m four months into the academy down here in Texas, and soon enough I’ll get to bear the badge just like you did. I love you and miss everyday and hope you can keep helping me throughout the academy.

Love, Cullen

Hi Michael, thought I would drop in leave a message. Seems like everyone has grown up, graduated High School, even college. Your two sons have graduated and are moving on with their lives. Mine seems to have stopped 18 years ago when we lost you, Holidays come and go and life goes on, I do hope there is another place where they say we will all meet again. Please keep watch over your children and the rest of the Clan. You have not been forgotten, we will not let that happen, Love, Dad

Stopping in to ask you to please watch over your son who is presently down in Texas waiting to start the Police Academy and be a 3rd generation law enforcement officer in our family. I tried to get all of you guys to become Firemen as everyone loves a fireman. Mom isn't too thrilled about his choice, but you can't blame her. No parent should have to outlive their children. Please watch over him, keep him safe and on the right path as he goes through the academy., We all love and miss you every day. Not a day goes be I don't think about you. Love Dad

Merry Christmas Michael. Was at your brothers last night, thought of you as usual. Holidays are always hard, but I think of you every day. Your son told us a few stories about how you changed the lives of two police officers who crossed your path. I was glad they told him face to face what you did for them. Continue to keep watch over your children and also your mother. You are a true hero and we love and miss you. You have not been forgotten.

Hey dad I miss you beyond words. I started testing for police departments, despite the current climate of law enforcement. I feel a natural calling to serve and protect. I hope to keep making you proud. I’m praying that Dallas will be my home but only god knows where I will end up becoming a police officer. I wish we had more time but I know you’re looking down at me with a smile. I love you and miss you.

It was 27 years ago this week that I watched my 20 year old son walk down our driveway with an Army Recruiter to take you to the processing center. You enlisted for 5 years so that you could be an Airborne Army Military Policeman. Being 6'5" you were automatically on your way to Korea after your training. After that assignment you returned and then sent off to Bosnia to maintain peace. Another six months, living in a tent this time. You had to deal with and saw many terrible things. Finally, after 5 years you were honorably discharged and became a police officer, your lifelong dream. After 4 years that was all taken away and you also taken from us, including your children. We all miss you and will never let you be forgotten. There are no words to describe how much I miss you and love you son. Love Dad

My Brother who became a CPD officer in 1992, my mom and I were walking into Stroger Hospital the morning they brought you in. She was in the end stages of Pancreatic cancer. Philip Cline was walking through the emergency room doors as we were walking through. I will never forget that day, the outpouring of love and support from the CPD was all over the place. I felt honored to be an American. Thankyou always and forever for your service.

We had your benefit last night and it was a big success. Many of your friends were there supporting us. They couldn't believe how your son is your clone and even 2" taller than you at 6'6" Giant screen had tv had the Cross town game on, Cubs vs Sox. Today is the 17th anniversary of losing you and unfortunately two CPD Officers were shot last night. Female officer died last night and her partner is fighting for his life. Welcome her home and let her visit her family in their dreams to let them know she is ok. Continue to keep watch over the family for me. We think of you every day. Love Dad

Officer Gordon, thinking of you and your family today and always, it is so difficult to believe that so many years have passed, and to think that 17 years ago your mom and dad thought they wouldn't make it through this terrible day. Time does not heal our broken hearts nor does it ever mean we will forget. Continue to watch over your family, friends and the coworkers who continue to patrol the streets of Chicago. You sir, will never be forgotten.
