Reflections for Police Officer Nathan Ray Laurie

Hi Nathan,
Just thought I'd let you know that every time I get on the firing line, I remember our matches and championships in the Far Eastern Matches. Your sayings as we were Marksmanship instructors together still are remembered and have helped me in getting to become ranked Number 4 in the nation. I'm shooting Small bore Prone Rifle these days after becoming Double Distinguished in the Center fire side of marksmanship disciplines. Now, with you whispering in my ear we'll become Internationally distinguished to make it "Triple Distinguished". Maybe eventually, the US Shooting Team and so on. Thanks again brother! Semper Fi.
Sincerely,
Rodger E. Scrivner

Nathan, 10 years and it seems like yesterday. Not a day goes by that I don't feel your protection over us. You are missed and loved each and everyday. You are gone but never forgotten. With all my love, V

Ofc Laurie,
Although I never got the privilege to meet you I can say that I've known your son Byan for some time now and I am proud and honored to call him a Brother and Friend. You'd be proud of him as a Father, as a Police Officer and as a Brother to the members of the UMC. My son is only 4 and I have a long way to go, but if my son looks up to me half as much as Bryan does to you I know I'll have done the right job. We've had a rough year and you may be meeting some new guys up there. Just know they are all one hell of a great bunch of guys. Hope you all are sharing a drink and sharing stories...and most importantly watching down on us. The only comfort we have in losing someone is that they are now watching over us.

It is not length of life, but depth of life.

Hi Nate,
Thinking of you today, like every day. More perhaps during the funeral services for two CHP officers killed responding to an accident. I love you little brother, and know that you made the world a better place. .

Nathan 9 years ago you left your watch on earth only to continue it from heaven. Not a day goes by that I don't feel your protection around us. And I know that you put a little bit of you into the boys cause they love NASCAR so much. And you would be so proud, after all these years Jesse finally eats the crusts off of bread :)! Thank you for being our Angel. We love and miss you each and every day.

Hey old man, its been eight years now and still as hard as day one. GBNF. My brothers in the black and orange have been here for me and help me get through when times are tuff. Laura has been here for me as well. I like this saying from the Navy Seals, I know its fitting and you would have liked it too.........for all those who have been down range, for us and those like us.......damn few. Love you old man.

Another senseless tragedy
Another day of grief,
Another day of praying
To help us find relief.

Relief from bitter anguish
Relief from rage so great,
Relief from lenient justice
Which continues to seal our fate.

Relief from heartache’s torment
As we continue on,
Oh, the awesome loss of brotherhood
Now that you are gone.

Though our hearts are deeply broken
And our tears forever flow,
There’s a comforting assurance
That now with God you go.

We know that you are welcome
Now at Heaven’s gate,
While meeting brothers & sisters
Who also met such fate.

The family of Law Enforcement
Knows no distance here or there,
And we recall in comfort
You await us there

It was a HONOR to work with you and to get to know your family... I know you are proud of them... Its hard to believe in a couple of days it will be 8yrs since you left... I miss the Tum's bottle and your singing and the Dear Chief opps laughing..Miss you Nathan and will see you again soon..Keep watching over the guys..

Hey Laurie! I haven't wanted to leave anything on here, but saw your picture, and decided to do so. I was in Mexico when you got called to Heaven; I was on my way back during the funeral. Sgt. Palmer was the one who told me. It broke my heart, hearing the details. You and I started TCSO together, and those of us that did, were our own "little family." We also started the academy at the same time, just different places. I will never forget the days of hearing you say, "You rang," as the inmates called you Lurch or me calling you Fire Marshall Bill when we were doing our air-pack tests. We had a lot of laughs working midnights together and loved watching you make the captain mad...lol

Miss ya buddy and hope you are keeping an eye on all of us (brothers and sisters in LE). I know you are watching over your family and proud of them, until it is time to see them again. I remember you always talking about them and how much you loved them. You were always proud of your son for being a cop too. You are forever in their hearts, while you are forever by their sides.

There is a reason for your ultimate sacrifice and God has let you know why. RIP Fire Marshall Bill.....

Love,
Jaclin

Hi dad! You have been on my mind so much lately. I deeply aplogize for not leaving a reflection in quite sometime. I know you hear my thoughts when praying at night though. I am so glad that mom and sis pushed me to go to the memorial this year! I can't believe I had not been in so long. It was a blessing to be able to send a baloon up with Zoe. I wish Jeff could have been there. He is getting so big! A freshman now to be exact! Lil Zozo is growing up so fast dad. She talks about you often! I know you watch over us closely and help to keep us safe up there the way you helped keep people safe down here! I am so blessed to still be close to all of the family!! Anyhow, I have to get back to work. Just wanted to say that I love you so much dad and think about you everyday! How can i not? Your picture is in my office, my car, and my house! hahaha.

Love you!!
Miss you!!!
