We miss you. You're forever our hero. Our days are long without you. "All the world is a stage, we are merely players, performers and portrayers, each anothers audience, beyond the guilded cage."
We think of you every day, every moment. We'll meet again my fine man.

You were a cousin that gave me just about 5 hugs in a lifetime but those hugs will last forever. I'm saddened by the way we never had the opportunity to share time together. I found out HOW very special YOU were to so many. I need to say I love you....so the world can know how much you meant to me too....say hello to Willie,Celia Cruz and Jesus for me...and prepare a chair for me for I will surely join you and boy will we hear a lot of SALSA together......REST in peace my dear cousin....Esther Hernandez

Merry Christmas Ed. You, having the inside of what Christmas really means. Selfish of we, thinking we know what it means. In time, we will all know what it truly means. Until then, go well our fine friend. Be our Angel.
Be well our brother, father, husband, son, collegue, and friend.

December 25, 2004

Christmas looms upon us you big doof. We will open a wrapped gift for you. It never gets easier Ed. It just doesn't.

EVERYTHING IS GOING BY SO QUICKLY.YOU LEFT SO SUDDENLY. THE HARDEST PART WAS THAT I HAD NEVER HAD A CHANCE TO SAY GOODBYE. I HAD A CHANCE TO SEE YOU BEFORE YOU LEFT. I FELT LIKE I HAVE GOTTEN CLOSER TO YOUR CHILDREN AND WIFE. I WAS SO SAD THE DAY I HAD FOUND OUT THAT YOU HA DIED. YOU WILL NEVER BE REPLACED. NO MAN CAN BE THE MAN THAT YOU WERE. NO MAN WOULD GET UP EVERYDAY AND BE SO DEDICATED TO YOUR JOD AND BEAUTIFUL FAMILY. MY HEART BROKE WHEN I SAW YOUR WIFE AND CHILDREN. GOD HAD TAKEN A PERSON WHO WAS ALREADY AN ANGEL. SOMETIMES I WONDER WHY IT HAD TO BE YOU EDWIN HERNANDEZ

Think of you every day Big Guy. Wish you could wrap your big arms around me as we always did. Ray did a wonderful job of taking care of your family. The Command came through for Cora and your family. He's a good boy. I stole your "Cop of the year " picture from the 5th. It stands proudly on my livingroom wall. Rather have you here for dinner though. You'd love my pasta gravy. OK big man, come talk to me once in a while, will ya? We love you, always.

How are things in Gods Great Heaven? You taking care of things up there? Selfishly, I wish you were still here with us. Still, always miss your smile.

Thank you sir. For your courage, for your valiance, for your dedication to your community and family, and mostly, for your committment to your brothers in blue. You take with you a piece of our hearts , that we may only recover when we can stand with you and hold your hand. We will take care of yours, be assured Ed. Go well our fine friend.

We never met, Ed, but fate put me on top of the Dix Hills Road overpass 30 seconds after you hit the tree. I got to you in two minutes by tearing down a fence and crashing through the underbrush, using the headlight off of my bicycle to find you unconscious, still at the wheel. At least I can say that you never suffered. I did my best to get to you only to feel your pulse fade in my hands as I held your head by reaching through the shattered windshield. From all accounts, you were quite a guy. I guess that we were fated to meet one day. I can certainly promise that I will never forget you. See you on the other side.

There has always been something special about being a member of the Highway Patrol. The uniform, the independance, but mostly, the self motivation. Ed, you had all these qualities. You filled the seat in Unit 909, were I too spent so many years in. The Interstate was well protected by your valiant efforts. I salute you, as a fellow member of the Highway Patrol, you shall remain in my prayers, may St. Michael the Arch Angel welcomed you to Our Lords force, may you hear those words "A JOB WELL DONE,My Loyal and Faithful servant." God Bless.

TO: The family; loved ones; friends and department members: A POLICE OFFICER’S PRAYER : O, gentle Lord! Keep the day / night watch with me. As I begin my tour of duty, I ask your protection from all mental, physical and spiritual harm. Sustain me with the knowledge that I am doing your work, endeavoring to keep peace among your people. Help me to be just as I enforce the law without prejudice or favor to anyone. May I be courageous but not reckless in carrying out my duties. Let me respond to all calls with haste realizing that so many are dependent on me for life and safety. Support me with your consoling power when I am tempted to think that no one really cares and that I am taken for granted. Sustain in me the conviction that so many thousands do care and are grateful for my presence. Grant that I may be loyal to my partner and my fellow officers, and that I may back them up effectively when called upon for assistance. Lord, I ask that I may return safely, after my tour of duty, to my loved ones and those who love me. I pray that I may be a good and honorable police officer; and after my tour of duty is over here on earth, may I enjoy the peace and happiness of heaven that you have promised to those who serve you well. AMEN. ** REST IN PEACE** Sent to you by the father of Master Officer J.D.Koeppen, Capital City Raleigh NC; Trooper D.C. Koeppen, NJ State Police and Cadet Officer A.M. Koeppen Wilmington N.C.

Eddie, you were always an uncle to me, now I write you from my PC to yours in Heaven. Does Heaven have Broadband? I bet it does! You told me I had to take the job in Federal Law Enforcement, I said it wasn't for me and you insisted that if I didn't take it, I was crazy! So here I am, a Senior Federal Officer and I owe so much to you. I could always pull into your driveway on my way home and you'd be their watering your lawn. "Louie!" you'd say "go inside and grab a couple of beers" and I would and then we'de talk about whatever came to mind. I guess I took those days for granted. I never knew how important you were to me until it was too late. So if you HOL (Heaven On Line) is up and running and you are reading this, I miss you and I want you to know that if Cora, Eddie or Tania need anything, I am an email away!
