Christy....

Just thinking about you today. I do often, as i do all my brothers and sisters that have fallen and that are still out there. I pulled your cousin over a bit after your death. I wrote him a ticket for not wearing a seat belt. I didn't know who he was until he stated that he was your cousin. I thought it was best because you would have done the same. Either that....or a stern warning. : ) He appreciated it. I always wonder about that ticket. Why did i write it after i knew who he was ? but i cannot wonder if i did the right thing any longer. God or You put him in my path that day. There is a reason for everything. I also met your parents. Christy, you were so loved and always will be.

Christy,

Even though we never met, I feel that I've known you for a long time. I was contacted by "Buddy" about riding in memory of you in the 2005 Police Unity Tour. I was honored for the task, Buddy and Jason had told me alot about you and your parents. I had the opportunity to meet them and several members of your agency during Police Week in DC. I was honored to meet them and hear stories about you. You are truly missed and you will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace Christy, We have the watch. Allan

Christy,

Your service to the citizens of Nashville will always be remembered. You served with so much honor and love for your job. You were one of the good ones, and Nashville is a better place for having you here, just like Heaven is a better place for having you there.

It will be 2 years since your tour of duty ended. Such a terrible outcome for justice in your case for the individual that caused all the grief and broken hearts for those that love you. You have not been forgotten and are a true hero and heroes never die. Keep watch over your loved ones and those still out on patrol.

Such a beautiful young lady who was called away far too soon. I know in your heart you loved being a police officer. Some people may be saying, we wonder what kind of officer she would have become, you already were that officer. Keep watch over your loved ones and those still out on patrol. You will never be forgotten and are a true hero.

I think of the last hours before when we talked and then I think of that miserable day. I miss you and I think of you everyday. We all loved you.....I see your parents alot.. To the Metro Police, family, and friends of Ofc. Dedman. I was traveling through Nashville a few days ago and was overwhelmed by emotion for your loss. We are going through the process, change of venue hearing, for the accused who killed our two beloved Ofc. Mims and Sgt. Russel on Jan 2 last year. I just want all to know that God is still on His throne and all officers that walk the "thin blue line" are in my prayers and thoughts. I guess that I am still a little of a "fatherly type" but when I see a fallen "Female Warrior" I just feel a little overwhelmed and a little more angry. Thanks for letting me share my thoughts. All our officers and support staff still talk of Christy and Metro's loss and it helps us to continue on knowing that we can support each other in the "brotherhood". To all effected by this tragedy, please know that we will never forget, and I personally will see to it until my last breath that the thin blue line and her warriors will be respected. I pray God's blessings on Metro, Christy's family and all friends. We will not give up!

Respectfully,

Officer Dedman July 19th will be forever etched in my heart... as one law enforcement female to another. If you were anything like me, I wanted to prove that I could do anything these men could do :) The academy was sometime grueling, but I dealt with the pain and kept moving forward. I honor police officers and always will, but female officers I have a special respect for because it is difficult...
God Bless you, your family and the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Officer Ward, thanks again for your kind thoughts. May the Lord watch over us and may Christy and Jake forever be with us :)

Officer Dedman, after reading some of your reflections its apparent that you have some pretty ownderful people that you have touched.
I just lived through the 1st anniversary of my best friend going to heaven. It's so hard to live through the loss, but someone said while memorilizing Jake that "we need not cry for what we lost, rather smile for what we had". This goes for the same who mourn Officer Dedman. From reading the reflections you can see how loved she is.

Officer Ward, thanks you for your kind words. Lossing someone so special hurts, but we need to keep putting one foot in front of the other to honor Jake and Christy. I believe that is the best way to honor them...its to never forgetting...

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.

Tonight, July 19, 2005 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Police Officer Christy Jo Dedman who died in the line of duty on this date one year ago.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Officer Dedman's sacrifice will never be forgotten.

I want to send my thoughts and prayers to the family and fellow officers of Officer Dedman today. The anniversary of my best friends death is soon arriving and I can not go to this website without looking at the "day in history". My best friend was killed in the line of duty (Jake Laird 08/18/04). I can not say that I understand exactly what the friends and fellow officers of Officer Dedman are going through, but unfortunately I have a very good idea. Losing a loved one in your life is hard as it is, but when they are taken suddenly just trying to do good to make a difference is even worse. Rest in Peace Officer Dedman, you are a hero and will not be forgotten!

Chirsty I just recently met your mother at Police week and I must say it is apparent where you got your spunk. She is an amazing woman and very proud of you. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting you. I strongly believe you are the perfect example of a professional. May you rest in peace.

Well the verdict is in. And I can only stand and shake my head. The only comfort I have is to know that the Dedman family supported this decision. They are such great people as well is Jamie Underwood. I can tell you when I got the e-mail which spoke of the decision I sat and cried. I cried because it was finally over. This was just another time to honor you and the life you represented. I thank you again for searching that female on friday. I will think of you every time I pass "the spot". Jason said it best, You are all our hero. I miss you. We all miss you. We are ONE.

I grew up with Christy Dedman, and even though we have lost her, I know that my children are in a safer world because of her. I would give anything to still have her but I know she loved more than anything doing what she was doing.
