Thank you Wesley for being my friend. I will miss seeing you and talking with you. Somehow, you always made my day a much brighter. I keep a picture of you near throughout the day just so you can flash that smile at me when I need it. Please take care of all the boys in blue. I know that you are riding that great Harley in the sky. Lean down and smile on them and let them know you are there. Thanks for being The Only One. You will never be forgotten.

The test of time is ever so important to those in harms way as we are never promised tommorow. Wesley left home on 7-11-04 with plans to return home that evening not knowing that he stood in harm's way. It is a sad day that will always be remembered at the Columbia County Sheriff's Office. The day a man of great faith and honor was taken from out midst. Wesley will always be in our hearts and minds and it is reassuring to know that he is with the Lord as one of his angels helping to keep watch over his brothers, sisters and friends in blue. May God make the ache of pain suffered from the loss of Wesley slowly deminish with time and help his family and friends remember Wesley as one who
is but only lost from our midst, but in reality just a breath away. May God bring peace and console to each of your hearts.

I first met Wesley when we attended the Columbia County Sheriffs Office reserve academy together in 1997. From the first day of the academy, Wesley instantly gained everyones respect and friendship. You couldn't help but be drawn to him because of his smile and his willingness to help you, no matter who you were. I remember the day that he found out he was going to be a Grandfather. He was very excited and couldn't believe that it was going to happen. Even though I left the Sheriffs office, every time I saw Wesley he would come up to me and shake my hand with that big smile and give me and my wife a hug, because she too worked with Wesley.
I still cannot believe that you are gone from us Wesley. You were a true friend and brother in blue and I will miss you terribly. I know though, that I will see you again in the kingdom of heaven. Knowing that gives my soul happiness.
We love you Wesley.

I had the privilage, no HONOR, to be a very close friend, partner, and brother to Wesley. And as such my family and his spent many evenings cooking out, swimming in his pool, and/or boating at the lake (funny thing is Welsley was afraid to death of the water.) I spent much of my life in the past seven years with my brother Wesley standing beside him on duty, and with him off duty. During that time I never saw Wesley turn a citizen down who needed help or turn the other way when a deputy asked a favor; However all this said I never realized until July 17th just how many hearts Wesley had truly touched. As mine and Wesley's fellow motor units escorted his casket down a long stretch of the road I was finally able to pick up my head, after a week of mourning, and see. What I saw brought tears to my eyes. Not tears of saddness for my fallen brother but tears of Pride. As far as I could see, nothing but blue lights from fellow Law Enforcement vehicles. For miles this thin blue line stretched. Citizens that Wesley had served, and died for, lined the streets. An elderly man with a long beard, a patch on his eye, barely able to stand got up and saluted. A man got off his bicycle, probably from the looks of it his only possesion, and bowed his head and covered his heart. A young man in a silver truck pulled it accross the roadway to block a couple of cars that decided to continue on, a young mother and her child pointing at all the motors with the pretty blue lights going by, not truly understanding what all this fuss was for, And mostly, as we made the final turn into the cemetary, the hundred or so Motor Officers who had come from all over to pay there respect to the fellow comrad who had died in the line of duty. I realized that Wesley had touched many many lives and not that of just me and my family. I am so proud of my brothers on the thin blue line and of all the citizens who showed there support on that hot July day and of Wesley who always had the courage to do the right thing no matter what. God Bless you my Partner, Friend and my Brother. Family and friends take comfort for "Blessed are the PeaceMakers for they shall be called Sons of God" Matthew 5:9

I had the privelege and honor to serve as Wesley's Sergeant and later Lieutenant in the Special Operations Division. The are no words that exist in the human language to describe just how special a person Wesley was. That famous smile and infectious laugh have touched so many people throughout the years!Never in the years that I worked with Wesley did I ever see him get angry or say a negative word about another person. We all know how proud Wesley was of hit motor and the Traffic wngs he wore on his chest....well those Traffic wings have been traded for Angel's wings and Wesley now rides in a place where there is no pain, there is no suffering, there is only total peace. I love you Mack Daddy and look forward to the day I again see your smile.

Wesley Mack was not just a good cop, he was a wonderful human being. I had the honor and priviledge to be Wesley's supervisor for several years at the CCSO traffic division. I monitored his progress as he was trained on the motors by fellow Officers. Wes had never ridden a motor but was determined that this was what he wanted and he trained many long hard hours to make that happen. My fondest memory of Wes is from a fishing trip to Savannah, Ga with all the guys from the traffic division. Wes arrived that morning ready to go with his pink arm floaties on. I never witnessed anything that even resembled anger from Wes. During those stressful moments Wes would just smile that big full face smile and reach out and touch the hearts of those around him. Rest easy my friend and God bless you for all the things you have done in the name of duty, honor and country.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Dylan Thomas

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office and the citizens of Columbia County have lost a truly great officer. I vividly remember the last conversation I had with Mack. It was in the parking lot of a local gas station. We spoke briefly about a traffic test he had created about six months ago and was going to get me a copy of it. The last thing I told him was that there was no rush to get me the test, I would get it from him whenever. He flashed me that knowing smile that he gave everyone, and I left the parking lot. Little did I know, I would never see him alive again. Mack was killed doing what he loved; riding his silver Electroglide Police motorcycle and serving the citizens of Columbia County. I will miss that flash of a smile and his willingness to always stop and talk with you no matter what was going on. We have definitely lost a great officer and friend.
Mack, God speed and we miss you.

I went and saw my Brother in Blue today and realized that this had not been a dream. We will never hear Deputy Wesley Mack (T-6) on the radio again. Never hear his laughter or see his contagious smile. I'm sure the angels in Heaven were rejoicing when Wesley Mack was given his true "wings". Now we're left with the pain of dealing with the loss. But smile, for we are not alone, Our Father in Heaven will give us comfort. We need to turn to each other for comfort and reassurance, not only today but daily. I pray that I will once again see Wesley Mack smile and walk with him on the golden streets of Heaven.

"But thanks be to God,which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."

I met Officer Mack at the Augusta Harley Davidson Shop in Augusta. He was on duty, on his HD. He came over to the table we had set up and chatted with me. He told me he was a believer in Jesus Christ. I knew he was, you could see Jesus in him. He really made an empression on me that day. I too grieve because I have lost a brother in Christ. I find comfort in knowing when he is now, and who he is with. Officer Mack is happy now in Heaven, and I pray his family will find comfort and peace knowing this. Sincerely Sherry Farmer
