Reflections for Police Officer Brian Donte Winder

I dont know why today seems so much harder then 7/3 any other year.. It has been such a long time. All I can think about is how Lorrie and the kids have grown and all of the things that you have had to watch from above. I am still so sad and haertbroken, and grateful. Such a overwheleming feeling of helplessness comes back to me when i think of that night. I am so sorry we couldnt do more my friend. my heart is still breaking for you and your family.

Lorrie we love you guys so much.

Brian, I haven't been on this site for some time. Well our son graduated from high school. What a wonderful moment that was and at the same time it hurt my heart knowing how much Brandon and I missed having you there to witness his accomplishment! I felt you there spiritually and that helped some. I also had great support from wonderful friends and family! I know you are proud of him from where you are! He has turned into a wonderful young man who is very respectful. He will start college im August. Stay with him for guidance and safety! I know he will do well. He has to get a bit more serious concerning his school work since this is different from high school. I am letting go more and more so he'll become more independent and responsible! I truly feel he will be fine! Thank you for staying with me spiritually! Please continue. As the 10th anniversary approaches, I can't believe time.has gone by so fast! You are missed dearly in every way more than I can express! Thank you for still taking care of us! We love and miss you forever!

Brian, as we (94-7) approach our 20 years with the BPD. I remember like it was yesterday, when we took the oath to serve and protect at all costs. The members of our class have accomplished exceptional things, none will ever be able to equal yours and your famlies. Please know that you are our drive to succeed and your inspiration keeps us and your family moving forward. God bless you and family.

May God continue to bless you Lorrie and your family. Time has gone by very fast. I often think about Brian. My laughter is usually followed by a few tears because I miss him so. But in the end I am so thankful for Brian's presence in my life. I will always remember his smile, his laugh, but most of all his passion for his neighborhood and his family. I Love you Bro...

Well Brian, you would have been 46 today and we would have had 20 years together tomorrow. I miss you dearly! Time has gone by so fast. Please be with Brandon as he finishes his last year of High School. It's not easy for him at times, but I must say, he never gives up. You would be proud of him playing football. He has an outstanding coach and team as well. They are 6-0 so far this year with two more games to go. I feel they will have a perfect season. What a way for Brandon to end his High School Year. Continue to be with us till we meet again!

Well B, Im still not feeling too well after my surgery but I promised that I would try to look after your family in your absence, the best way that I could. Your wife's birthday is on 826 just like your car number was. So I left her a Lil present on her door step. That's what true family is for. I haven't missed a year yet ( thanks to God) since you left. I got your back B! Miss you much! Happy Birthday Lorrie!!

Brian I missed you man. I miss the madden tournaments we use to have over each other houses. Brandon wants to play pro football for the "ravens". When I asked him why he told me that he wanted to make you proud of him. I told him that you were already proud of him and all your kids. You loved them and talked about them all the time. Rest in Peace

Brian was one of the members of my academy class 94-7. My man! Always a happy guy...always smiling. He liked to crack on some of us here and there, but it was all in fun. Shoot, we were in the academy any type of laughter was always welcomed. We would of been in service for 18 years this coming September and two to go. It's a shame that someone would commit such a heinous act to such an undeserving person. No one deserves to be stripped of their life in such a manner....definitely not Brian. To us in blue you will ALWAYS be remembered and it was a pleasure and an honor to call you brother. Always remembered NEVER forgotten.

As I sit here today on this 9th anniversary, my heart is still filled with sadness and my eyes well up with tears remembering the loss we all felt at the SWD that night. I will never forget the good times we had, your infectious laugh or your beaming smile. Rest in peace my brother; until we meet again.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 8th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace

I pray for the solace of all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

I was fresh off field training the night I responded to the scene. I observed the pain on many of your friends, our brothers and sisters. I reflect on that incident often and it reminds me how fragile life really is, God bless your family.

I haven't been on this page for a little while. Thinking of you today on your birthday and tomorrow which would have been our 19th anniversary. I never thought we wouldn't be able to celebrate our 20th year together. I remember the 10th year so clearly and how nice it was. Thank you for wonderful memories. What a very nice message from Brandon's coach. I'm glad Brandon's a part of the team. It has been a blessing more than I can tell you Brian. Please keep your spirit with Brandon as he matures. He really misses you.

Hi Lorrie,
Hope you and the children are doing well! I saw Brian's mom at Dulaney on Father's Day. I gave her a huge hug to share with you. She said you were doing well, which I was so glad to hear. Love to catch up sometime! Love and Hugs!
