At the end of our life all we can reflect on is what we accomplished. From what I have read and heard, you accomplished a lot. May you be at rest and know that your fellow friends and officers are praying for you and your family. May god bless your family and give you eternal life with him.

I have read several of the reflections and they all say the same thing I was thinking and feeling. I will miss your smile and greetings at the west door. You always took the time to speak with me and others in the hall way. You took an interest and you mattered in so many ways. You have meant so much to so many your loss will be felt in ways you would never have imagined.

Thank you brother for being there and know that your service and dedication were not in vain.

My heart goes out to all of you in the Police Department. You have truly lost a great officer. I had the great pleasure of working with Greg for several years when he was in Police Personnel - we worked as a team in testing entry level police officers. He also helped me through some very difficult times in my life. He was a friend, a mentor and now a hero.

I especially want to express my deepest sympathy to his wife and children.

My deepest simpathy to the family, friends and coworkers of Sergeant Hunter. I pray God will bless you with His peace, grace and mercy and may He give you the strength you will need to get through the sad times.

Sergeant Hunter, rest in peace! You and all the peace officers gone before you are heroes.

My heart goes out to Greg's wife and children. I know all to well the pain they are going through, going through a loss of a father less than a year ago. I pray for each of you every night and I pray to God to tell Greg how much I will miss him, and am so grateful God put Greg in my life the past 6 years I have known him.
I spoke to Greg Friday morning as I gave him his paycheck and he asked as always how I was doing, and we started cutting up about me and my family moving and laughing. He was such a giving and happy man. Anytime I was able to do the smallest thing for him, he would always say"I knew if I came to Charlene Muse, she would take care of it" and thank me, he was a devoted father, my husband worked on his daughters car going to college in Oklahoma and he just wanted to make sure she was safe. I will always cherish the memories of Greg, and my heart will always have a place of sadness of loss of a friend.

I've known Greg since I was about 5 or 6 years old through my dad who has been an officer with GP for 20 years. I got to know him better after I was hired in the jail. Its sad to see him go and he will be missed. I wish the best for his family and I pray they make it through this very difficult time. Thank you Greg for letting me get to know you a little bit and for being a damn good officer.

Greg, We just cant believe you are gone..You were a wonderful person and Sgt...You were the type person that somone would walk up to to have their spirits uplifted and somone that one could stand behind for protection...My last memory of Greg is from a hectic day in dispatch when he was standing in the room and I needed him for a Burg inprogress and I was already 10-33 on the main channel from another Burg inprogress...I turned around screaming that I needed him for a call and he ran out of the room enroute without hesitation...And Greg being the type of person he was after the call he came back into the dispatch room standing behind me laughing and doing a histerical dance with arms flying in the air, doing a great job at imitating me from the original dispatch of the call...I will miss him always saying to me "Angela, if you got a problem tell me, I GOT IT"...Greg was deffinately a HERO and FAMILY and should be remembered as such!!!!We love ya Greg and you will be missed by all...

To my Fallen Brother in Blue,

God has prepared his room for you and it is now time for you to take your place in his house.

Your death as tragic as it was, is a stringent reminder that we are the protectors and the keepers of the peace and we fall prey to the evils of the world to protect others.

Many have gone before you and Unfortunately, many will follow but- your new beat is to now serve as our protector and as our guardian angel.

My condolences and heart goes out to your family and extended family.

“When God made Peace Officers….”

When the lord was creating Peace Officers, he was into his sixth day of overtime when an angel appeared and said, “You’re doing a lot of fiddling around on this one.”

And the Lord said, Have you read the spec on this order? A Peace Officer has to be able to run five miles through alleys in the dark, scale walls, enter homes the health inspector wouldn’t touch, and not wrinkle their uniform.

They have to be able to sit in an undercover car all day on a stakeout, cover a homicide scene that night, canvass the neighborhood for witnesses, and testify in court the next day.

They have to be in top physical condition at all times, running on black coffee and half- eaten meals. And they have to have six pairs of hands.

The angel shook her head slowly and said, “Six pairs of hands….No Way.”

“It’s not the hands that are causing me the problems,” said the Lord, “It’s the three pairs of eyes an officer has to have.”

That’s on the standard model? asked the angel.

The Lord nodded. One pair that sees through a bulge in a pocket before he asks, “May I see what’s in there sir?” (When they already know and wishes they had taken that accounting job.) Another pair here in the side of their head for their partners’ safety. And another pair of eyes here in front that can look reassuringly at a bleeding victim and say, “ You’ll be alright ma’am, when they know it isn’t so.”

“Lord,” said the angel, touching his sleeve,” rest and work tomorrow.”

“I can’t,” said the Lord, “I already have a model that can talk a 250 pound drunk into a patrol car without incident and feed a family of five on civil service paycheck.”

The angel circled the model of the Peace Officer very slowly, “Can it think?” she asked.

“You bet,” said the Lord, “It can tell you elements of a hundred crimes, recite Miranda warnings in it’s sleep; detain, investigate, search, and arrest a gang member on the street in less time than it takes five judges to debate the legality of the stop…and still it keeps it’s sense of humor.

This officer also has phenomenal personal control. They can deal with crime scenes painted in HELL, coax a confession from a child abuser, comfort a murder victim’s family’ and then read in the daily paper how Law Enforcement isn’t sensitive to the rights of criminal suspects.

Finally, the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek of the Peace Officer. “There’s a leak,” she pronounced. “I told you that you were trying to put too much into this model.”

“That’s not a leak,” said the Lord, “It’s a tear.”

“What’s the tear for?” asked the angel.

“It’s for bottled-up emotions, for fallen comrades, for commitment to that funny piece of cloth called the American flag, and for justice.”

“You’re a genius,” said the angel.

The Lord looked sober. “I didn’t put it there,” he said.

Since 1975, there have too many losses of fellow officers that we have had to overcome. For the most part, we can say our good-bye and accept the loss and move on. It comes with this proud profession that we have chosen. Greg's passing is different. After knowing Greg for 20 years, he can best be described as the complete COP and more importantly, the complete MAN. I chose not to have many friends, and I have just lost one of my closest. In honor of Greg, I hope all of us reflect on ourselves and reignite the fire and passion that this great profession deserves. I love you Greg and I will miss you greatly.

Sgt. Hunter was my patrol Sergeant on evening shift for a short while and I considered a friend. I am blessed to have been able to serve time with Sgt. Hunter and learn the important things to being a police officer. I will miss his smile and the Christmas and Birthday cards that he stuck in my mailbox at work to show that he did not forget.

Happy Father Day Greg. I know you were a great one. I am praying for your family daily. I had known Greg for 15 years this past April. He was the one who handled my application and background. I don't think a single person ever had the ability to make you feel welcome like he did. From the day I was hired on as a Reserve Officer he always was there for me to offer a good word, motivation or to just ask "how were you were doing". I have been numb for a few days now. I have been trying to stay busy with Bruce and my fellow comrades in blue. I can't believe you are gone. I had the honor of preparing you uniform and pinning your badge on for the last time. I will miss you dearly friend. I only hope that this tragedy will bring us all closer together. I have told many of our fellow officers that if we ALL were more like you were everyday this nasty world we live in would be a better place. Rest peacefully, God Bless.

Another blue warrior has finished his shift and gone home to God. We can only imagine what kind of cowardly destruction the suspect had planned until you stopped him. You did a job that allowed thousands of unknowing citizens to go on about their day unharmed. I commend you sir and the bravery you displayed. You have earned your beat on Heaven's streets.
