To the family, friends and co-workers of Ofc Chisholm,

Your loss is felt by many, near and far. My son-in-law, Ofc Mark Sawyers of the Sterling Hts. MI police department was shot and killed on 6-5-04 while sitting in his patrol car. I was watching the news for updates of Mark's killer, who remains at large, when the breaking news story of three officers have been shot flashed on the screen. I was horrified that this happened again to our heros who wear the badge. Too many of these fine people are patrolling the streets of heaven now. When will it end? I pray that you will somehow find peace in your lives. Know that we grieve with you.

I knew Harley many years ago as we were both volunteer firefighters together for the city of Plantation in south Florida. I had lost touch with him since he left but, I never forgot him and a lot of us here never will. He was a good friend and a guy you could always count on being there. To his friends and family both at home and on the force our deepest sympathies.

Another sad day for law enforcement has come to pass. For the family of Officer Bennett, know that his coworkers will forever be there for you. Know that others have been in your shoes and know your pain. For the coworkers and especially the surviving officer, be at peace. Know that everything you could have done, you did. No one knows why these things happen. All we can do from day to day is fulfill our civic duty and pray that we all go home at the end of the shift. Trust in God to help you through this difficult time. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless.

I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot begin to understand how you feel. As a wife of a local Vice and Narcotics officer I can sympathize deeply. I hope for justice to those responsible. The same justice, Officer Chisolm was trying to uphold upon the time of his death. I only hope that justice will give you some kind of closure. My prayers are with you as long as my grief. Be strong.
