To Dep Arruda's fiance,
It is troubling that another name has been added to the list. Though words cannot erase the pain that your family is going through, may you be comforted in knowing that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Rest assured that your love's legacy will live on through your children. He died a true HERO in every sense of the word.

To The LAC Sheriff's Dept Family,
Your Deputy was taken from you in the most unfortunate of circumstance. Wrap your arms around your surviving deputy and hold him close, for his grief is such that you may never comprehend.

May God Bless and Keep you all.

Please remember the fallen officers we have lost. Remember the men and women who died trying to make this world a safer and better place for us all to live in. Thank you Deputy Arruda for a job well done. Please continue to watch over us and protect us as only you can. You will forever be at our side and in our hearts.

For those of you who still have loved ones with us please take the time to tell them how much you appreciate and care about them.

IF I KNEW

If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.

If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.

There will always be another day
to say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"

But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,

That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear

Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

The news hit us all hard when we heard of the shooting, my husband and I sat back on the couch and listened about what had happened, we prayed for his family and we prayed he would be ok. We wondered if it was our friends we knew, or someone we didnt. We prayed for days, looking up anymore information, the condition of this deputy. We then began to pray for the deputy who shot him, the pain he must be going through. Then as I kissed my husband goodbye and sent him off to work and told him to be safe. I got a call a few hours later, it was my husband calling to tell me that Deputy Arruda had passed away. I can hear it in his voice that he was shaken. As I have talked to my husband, he said it could happen to any of us, the suspect moved to quickly and Deputy Arruda moved to get out of the line of fire. But unknowing he stepped into another line of fire. My husband told me later if that ever happened to him that not to blame the deputy. To try to forgive, but a double nightmare for the department to be going through. I pray for you Mrs. Arruda and I pray for your 11 year old and I pray for your unborn baby. I pray there is comfort in God's hand, and in His light there is forgiveness. Our husbands go into the night, some return and some dont. We pray for you as a family in lawenforcement, and we pray for you to be able to get up and breath everyday. I dont know what its like to lose a husband, I have only talked to my friend who has. She gives it one day at a time, one breath, one minute, one hour, one second. I pray you will know there are wives all over the country praying for you to get by one day at a time. The journey has ended and now a new has begun. Teach that new baby about her dad, the hero he is to all of us. People she will never meet, your husband stood for us as a proud american, the badge of honor he wore daily. The name deputy, husband, dad, friend, son, brother, uncle, cousin, all lays in one man Michael Arruda. Please know our prayers are with you. Our hearts break for you and your family. We pray for everyone involved.
