As you know with your years on the street, so much happends that makes no sence. So many bad things you see and and once and a while a good thing that makes you laugh, and shake your head. You never know what your day may bring, life is like that and you have to make the best of all the time you have. I saw your passing and wondered why after 27 yrs God decided to take you home with him, when you have served so long in the Bowels of society. I Dont know why he took you now LT, but he must have a need for you in Heaven more than down here. I hope God Gives your Family the strength to understand that Gods Plan id Bigger than those we have, I beleave they do know but they will still hurt, I want them to know, you have Joined an Elite Club, your a Fallen Hero who will never die, your name will be forever on the Rolls of Fallen Heros, And From where im sitting they can stand Proud because your stood tall when it came time for you to serve.. GOD bless you my Brother and GOD bless your family.

To: The family;loved ones;friends and department members: A POLICE OFFICER'S PRAYER:--- O, gentle Lord! Keep the day/night watch with me. As I begin my tour of duty, I ask your protection from all mental, physical and spiritual harm. Sustain me with the knowledge that I am doing your work, endeavoring to keep peace among your people. Help me be just as I enforce the law without prejudice or favor to anyone. May I be courageous but not reckless in carrying out my duties. Let me respond to all calls with haste realizing that so many are dependent upon me for life and safety. Support me with your consoling power when I am tempted to think no one really cares and that I am taken for granted. Sustain in me the conviction that so many thousands do care and are grateful for my prensence. Grant that I may be loyal to my partner and my fellow officers, and that I may back them up effectively when called upon for assistance. Lord,I ask that I may return safely ,after my tour of duty,to my loved ones and those who love me.I pray that I may be a good and honorable police officer;and after my tour of duty is over here on earth, may I enjoy the peace and happiness of heaven that you have promised to those who serve you well. AMEN *** REST IN PEACE*** Sent to you by the father of First Class Officer J.D.Koeppen,Capital City Raleigh NC and Trooper D.C.Koeppen, NJ State Police.

Your family and Country are proud of you Lt. My father was a veteran of the Marines and was a NYPD homicide Detective until his retirement in 2000. He also just passed away from a heart attack 3 months ago at the same age as you. Just remember that Cops, as well as Marines, stand side by side even after the life we live down here.
