I've only seen you a couple times since high school. That's been 15 years but there will always be that bond. I was shocked when I heard the news and could not believe it.

May God hold a special place for you along side him, with all of our other brothers and sisters that have gone before us. Watch over us and keep us safe while we carry on the duty.

Gods speed brother.

Mrs. Filmore....I know your pain. I too lost my husband, after just 5 months of marriage, in the line of duty on Feb 5, 2004. It always brings me to tears when another officer loses his life. I can honestly say I know and feel your pain and my heart aches for you. I know you dont want to hear (and neither did I) anyone say "He's in a better place" because as surviving spouses, we think that the "better place" is here on this earth with US.

Your husband has made the ultimate sacrifice and has left this world a true hero. You have to believe that he is your new guardian angel. God only takes the best and he will take special care of him. You and Deputy Sheriff Filmore and your families will be kept in my thoughts and in my heart.
Always keep your husband alive in your heart, through your love, and through your memories. And please remember, you WILL be together again someday. He is ONLY waiting for YOU.

TO: The family;loved ones;friends and department members: ---A POLICE OFFICER'S PRAYER:--- O, gentle Lord ! As I begin my tour of duty ,I ask your protection from all mental ,physical and spiritual harm.Sustain me with the knowledge that I am doing your work, endeavoring to keep peace among your people. Help me to be just as I enforce the law without prejudice or favor to anyone. May I be courageous but not reckless in carrying out my duties. Let me respond to all calls with haste realizing that so many are dependent on me for life and safety. Support me with your consoling power when I am tempted to think that no one really cares and that I am taken for granted.Sustain in me the conviction that so many thousands do care and are grateful for my presence.Grant that I may be loyal to my partner and my fellow officers, and that I may back them up effectively when called upon for assistance. Lord, I ask that I may return safely, after my tour of duty, to my loved ones and those who love me. I pray that I may be a good and honorable police officer; and that after my tour of duty is over here on earth, may I enjoy the peace and happiness of heaven that you have promised to those who serve you well.AMEN-----***REST IN PEACE*** Sent to you by the father of First Class Officer J.D.Koeppen,Capital City Raleigh NC and Trooper D.C.Koeppen NJ State Police.
