I was saddened by the information of the death of Joseph LeClaire. Although I did not know him...I felt that I did. I'm sure our jobs are slightly different but it's times like these, that we must band together as a brotherhood & support each other. When one falls, we all stumble.

My sincere condolences to Joseph's family, his injured colleagues & friends. Our thoughts are with you all.

Sincerely,

Your brothers & sisters from Toronto, Canada

I had the pleasure of meeting Officer LeClaire when I was a police explorer for the Philadelphia Police department. He was a great guy and gave me great advice on how to be a productive police officer. Advice that I will always cherish. Officer Leclair was a fine gentleman and may he rest in peace and protect those who continue doing this job.

Doing the same type of work as Officer LeClaire, sometimes in the same neighborhoods, my heart and prayers go out to Officer LeClaire's family and fellow officers. Ernest Hemingway wrote "There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed men long enough, and like it, never care for anything else thereafter." It takes a special type of man/person to do this type of work. Officer LeClaire and his fellow officers on this job, went there to take a domestic terrorist off the streets of Philadelphia. In his twelve plus years of service to the citizens of Philadelphia, I'm sure that there could only be but a few if any who have taken more wanted criminals into custody.
Semper Fi my brother, you can rest now, and we will never forget your sacrifice.

Yet once again the Thin Blue Line is diminished,
an officer’s final tour of duty is finished.
"Officer down", it’s our greatest fear,
and once again, I hold back a tear.
They patrol in the state, city, county and town,
in uniforms colored white, green, blue and brown.
The shape of their badges may vary,
but it’s a symbol that they all, proudly carry.
They leave for work with a kiss goodbye,
but some don’t come home, no matter how hard they try.
To uphold the law is the job that they pick,
with such high aspirations, why must some die so quick?
They leave behind loved ones, family and friends,
after their lives have met tragic ends.
Some die in crashes, others hearts not too stout,
to many have been lost when gunshots ring out.
Our Heavenly Father has called them home,
no more these dark streets do they roam.
Through trial and error they have given their best,
please Lord, now grant them eternal rest.
Yet once again the Thin Blue Line is diminished,
an officer’s final tour of duty is finished.
" Officer down", it’s our greatest fear,
and once again I hold back a tear.
