Reflections for Police Officer John Edward Logan

DAY IS DONE,
GONE THE SUN,
FROM THE HILLS, FROM THE LAKE, FROM THE SKIES.
ALL IS WELL, SAFELY REST,
GOD IS NIGH.

GO TO SLEEP, PEACEFUL SLEEP,
MAY THE SOLDIER OR SAILOR, GOD KEEP.
ON THE LAND OR THE DEEP,
SAFE IN SLEEP.

LOVE, GOOD NIGHT,
MUST THOU GO,
WHEN THE DAY, AND THE NIGHT NEED THEE SO?
ALL IS WELL. SPEEDETH ALL
TO THEIR REST.

FADES THE LIGHT;
AND AFAR
GOETH DAY, AND THE STARS SHINETH BRIGHT,
FARE THEE WELL; DAY IS GONE,
NIGHT IS ON.

THANKS AND PRAISE,
FOR OUR DAYS,
'NEATH THE SUN, 'NEATH THE STARS, 'NEATH THE SKY,
AS WE GO, THIS WE KNOW,
GOD IS NIGH.

Hey John, well I know that we never met, or at least I dont think we did.....I was the male voice on the other end sometimes giving you your return, I would stop by on days and nights, and talk to you, but only over the radio, but I got a job dispatching full-time now up at the SO. I read where Coop hasn't caught that "big un" yet, he is trying to beat you..... He is a good man isn't he? I enjoy working with him, you would be proud of him. Also someone else you would be proud of...Jareb. Man he is real grown-up for his age. John, at your viewing, he took charge, and was there, strong for Elaine. At your funeral, he was the same, like a trooper. I hope life goes well for him, I also heard that he is interesting in Law Enforcement. I just know he will turn out like you, being the best out there. Sgt. Hill had their baby, it was a girl, real beautiful. The girls at Orlov's office is taking care of Eliane, being there 110% when she needs them. Well guess I will go for now, keep Heaven safe, as you did in Huntington.

Yet another death of a true freedom fighter. In my eyes Officer Logan gave his life for the safety and freedom of the United States and not just for the State of Texas. Thank you Officer Logan for your commitment and courage.

To the family, friends, and co-workers of Officer Logan:

I visit this site everyday, and happened upon John's and read alot of his tributes. What a wonderful angel, that God called home. I know how much that it hurts, we are going through the same thing, except my son was shot by another Officer.
I know that John and Clint have become fast friends and are walking God's beat now. They will continue to watch over us, until we meet them again.
We will never forget you.....

I am a police surviving widow. I am sorry that others must go through the loss of a loved one. It has been two years since the death of my husband, Capt. Scott Monier. It feels like yesturday, and then it feels like it has been years ago. The pain will always be there, but with help, you learn how to deal with it. I have two young girls that miss their dad daily. I miss my best friend. I can say that it does get a little easier, but it will take time and lots of help.
For the Police Department. Please take this family into yours, not just for a while, but forever. Even though you are suffering too, this family needs you to be there for them.
My prayers are with the family and the department.

Hey John,it's Nanny. I come to this site everyday and I think about you everyday. I made your boys a photo album of all your pictures that I had as a baby and little boy so they could see what you looked like back then. I hope they will treasure the pictures always. It brought back a lot of memories when you were little and it made me miss you even more. You are my HERO and I love you.
Love,

I've never been to Texas nor did I know Officer Logan. I share the same name and I too serve my community as a police officer, I hope with the same dignity and dedication that he did. My prayers and thoughts are with John's family, friends and colleagues. God be with you.

To the family of Officer Logan,
I am so sorry for the loss of your precious angel. I know the deep pain you are feeling right now. I was there in that position a year ago. I lost my best friend and my sisters most precious person in her life. It was her fiancee' that was killed in the line of duty February 20, 2003. I will be praying for your family as you struggle through the days it will be some rough days and some really good ones that you just sit and talk about your husband, son, and father. May God bless you through this healing process.

Officer Logan was really seamed like a wonderful man. He had stopped me one night late after I had picked my son up only to realize that I had a warrant for a traffic stop. Officer Logan was very simpathetic and followed me home to keep my son from having to go through the horrible ordael that his mother was being arrested. My thoughts and prayers are with all of his family. I also lost an uncle in Nov. He also was a man of the blue.

I watched over you when you needed me. At times when my night was slow you always made it go by without fail. Your short calls with corny jokes and chatter just to help us stay awake when traffic was slow. Whether you were in town or not you always remembered to call and make sure we were on top of our game. Sometimes when skip is bad I still faintly hear you badge come across the air and I wonder if your there, yet I know its your way of telling us to stay strong and be aware. You will always be our hero and our guardian angel where ever we go in the communication center and in our hearts. We know that you will be there for us as we were for you. God bless.

Dear John,
It's been a month today since you were shot and it's still a shock. It just doesn't seem real. I look at your pictures when you were a little boy and it breaks my heart. I wish I could have held on to you in my arms and never let you out into the cruel world but I know you loved what you were doing. You are and will be forever Nanny's HERO. I love you John-John.
Love you always,
Nanny

Yet this cruel world has taken another hero. Go rest high on that mountian my brother in blue for your legacy will live on forever. We all know you watch over us, being that eye in the back of our head, or that third arm we always need. Thank you for your service.

God Bless you and your family Officer Logan.
