Jennifer,
I have read about your story, I have worked overseas with someone who knew you, back home. I write this to convey my sympathy for your friends and family, and to let you know that you can rest in peace. We have the watch. We are forever thankful for yours and your partner's service.

Forgive me for missing the anniversary of your E.O.W., but I felt as though I could not continue to read about so many tragedies. I now realize the visit each day to leave a word of encouragement and hope to the loved ones of others, helps me to remember that I am not alone with my pain and heartbreak. So may I say to your friends and loved ones that my thoughts and prayers are with them now and always. Continue to keep watch over them and those still out on patrol and may they know you will never be forgotten.

5 years already...sometimes it seems like it has gone by quick and then other times it seems like it was only a year or so ago, just depends on whats happening in life I guess. Always know, you may be physically gone but never forgotten. RIP Jen.

On the 5th anniversary of Officer Fettig's death, we honored her service in our patrol briefing by reading her entry from ODMP. Each day, we honor one fallen officer on the anniversary of their death so as to keep them in our thoughts, and also to remind us of the dangers inherent in our job. Patrolman Fettig is not forgotten.

Dear Officer Fettig, (sorry for not doing this yesterday Feb 16,2009) I want you to know that you are in my prayers and I thank you for your dedication and service to your community. Sadly as we have learned from our past that in order to obtain peace their must be sacrafice. That sacrafice came at quite a price, your life!. Do you, your life did not go in vain and your brother and sisters in law enforcement work hard everyday to makesure the peace you wanted and strived for everyday in your job is maintained. Godbless and may you forever rest in peace

PO. Fettig i never had the pleasure of meeting you but I am proud of the good things that I hear your former co-workers say about you. You and Officer Bowens made the ultimate sacrifice on that early morning in 2004 and that will never be forgotten. I truly thank you for the service that you provided to the city of Detroit, may you rest in peace.

Dear Jenny,
Five years ago today I woke up at 1:57 a.m. and felt something was wrong but I didn't know how bad things were until I heard a report on the radio at 6:00 that mentioned the shooting of 2 Detroit Police Officers. My worst fears were confirmed when I received the call from your aunt/godmother. I just said it's Jenny isn't it? That's all I needed to hear. I think of you everyday and all the things we (your family & friends) are unable to share/experience with you. A day never passes by where I don't think of you. Continue to watch over everyone who is near and dear to you. God bless you and rest in peace my niece. Love, Aunt Gail

I've been thinking about you recently, so I decided to post a relfection.

Well it's 2009 now, and it's hard to believe that all this time has passed. In a few weeks it will be five years since you were taken from this Earth.

Five years.

It seems so much longer than that. Five years is a long time. One could only imagine what you and your friends could've accomplished in that time. I myself know that I've been through a lot all these years, whether they be good experiences or bad ones.

Fortunately, I myself have never lost anyone close to me, so I have little knowledge of what your colleagues and loved ones have gone through.

However, I wish them nothing but good times in all the years ahead.

Reading through all these pages of reflections, it is clear that you were- and still are a good person. You and Ofc. Bowens did not deserve what happened to you all those years ago. However, one cannot change the past.

I know you and Matt watch over police officers all across the world and keep them safe through the years ahead.

Rest in peace.
