Reflections for Police Officer Matthew Edmond Bowens
Miss you dearly little brother. I’m just a few hours it will be exactly 19 years since I received the worst call of my life. You were a true hero and died with honor doing what you dreamed about since you were 5 years old. Keep smiling down and watching over my kids. They never had the chance to meet Uncle Matt but know what an amazing uncle they would have had. Until we meet again.

I think about you and Jennifer often, daily honestly. I often say silent prayers for the both of you and your families. We only met by chance on that freezing cold morning, but I am honored to have known the both of you, and I can only hope to have a fraction of courage and selflessness that the both of you displayed that fateful morning.
You will never be forgotten.
God bless the both of you, your families and co-workers.

Matt, I met your dad yesterday. He told me your story. You would have done great things Sir. You fought bravely and represented the badge. Your dad ( and Uncle Frank! ) were a joy to talk to.

Dear Uncle Matt,
It has been over 13 years. Even though I was 4 when you passed, I still remember our times together. I am graduating in a few days and I have to give a speech. You have no idea how badly I wish you could be there in person to see me get my diploma; however, I do know that you will be there in spirit.
I love you,
Brittany

Ofc. Bowen, words cannot describe our gratitude for your bravery and service. I still remember this awful incident as you and Ofc. Fettig served and sacrificed everything in the same precinct where my own father and his partner served and sacrificed everything 33 years earlier. You are sorely missed and will always be remembered.

Never a day passes that I miss your smile, your laugh, your random spontaneous adventures.... It only took one single moment to change my lifetime, that moment was the first time I layed eyes on you. What I wouldn't give for you to gaze at me at the most unexpected times that meant the most. How I tegret how much I didn't tell u enough u were absolutely amazing and touched everyone's heart who ever knew you. Your legacy will never be our loss of you, but having the blessing of knowing an angel. U live on everyday through my favorite times, my favorite moments, and my best memories. I miss you my best friend and wish that I had only one more moment with u, to simply just say I love you Matthew. Forever and a day all the days of my life.
