Your heroism and service is honored today, the 70th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace

Sir, I check your site often hoping that someone from your family will leave something on here. I think about you often. I am going to Knott County next weekend for a 100th birthday party for my papa. I will say a prayer for your family on my way through.

April 9th is rolling around fairly quick. God Speed.

Deputy Martin, I came across your name while looking up a fallen officer named Cole Martin. I noticed your name because my grandfather used to be the Sheriff in Knott County, years ago. I live in Ohio now but he is still down there. I have his badge that he wore back then and I cherish it dearly. I wonder if you two knew each other.

I am now in law enforcement and I am so proud of my job. I love doing this and wearing the badge. Im sure you did to.

You have been gone for many yearz now. To some it probably doesnt seem so long but to others it may seem like an eternity.

You rest easy sir, we have the watch from here. I will check back and hope that someone from your family will leave something on here. I would love to chat with them and see if you and my "papa" worked together.

God Speed sir.

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003). Unfortunately, I had to add the name of another friend. Deputy Jeffrey Hewitt, Buncombe County (NC) Sheriff’s Department, E.O.W. April 4, 2004.

We all grieve over the lives lost in the line of duty. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that there are countless prayers that go out for your family.

Deputy Martin, you are remembered on this date of your death. You will always be remembered.

These are senseless tragedies that never seem to stop. God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.

...Gone, but never Forgotten....
