Reflections for Reserve Officer Daniel J. Donovan

Officer Donovan, it has been 115 years since you were taken from us. New England law enforcement has continued to thrive, learn and become safer due to the traditions and sacrifices you, your family, and many others have made for us. Thank you for your law enforcement service.

I hope your Great-Grandson Michael achieved his dream!

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 105th anniversary year of your death.

Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Phyllis Lasater Loya
mom of fallen Pittsburg (CA) officer Larry Lasater

Officer Donovan,
ALthough we never met, I have heard of your story through your grand daughter, my grandmother. As I am trying to become a springfield police officer myself I would like to think that you will watch over me as I embark on my journey. May you rest in peace.

Officer Donovan, as a Reserve Officer, you faced the same trials and tribulations of the regular officers, but part time and maybe for less money, yet you did it. You worked hard for the City of Springfield and are a hero.

This tragedy caused the officer whose gun discharged to die a little as well and though he may have lived a long happy life after, my heart goes out to his spirit as well. He had to live with this accident that took your life.

Today, on the 98th anniversary of your death, I pray you both have reconciled in Heaven.

God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.
