I am a 32 year old college student and I just wanted to let Officer Litz's family and friends know that my thoughts and prayers are with them at this time. My father died when I was 29 so I feel for Officer Litz's son. I wish that there was something that I could do for him. To his wife Cheri, let your friends and family help you through this time. My heart also goes out to Justice during this time.

May God Bless You All,

Brian, I can't believe that I will never see you again. My eyes well up with tears every time I think about all the fun we had in high school and the years after. I regret not keeping in touch with you more since you went to Florida other than a few random e-mails and Christmas cards. I took for granted that there would always be time to call you or to visit you. Now, all I can visit are memories, and I will cherish every one of them. Thank you for being one the best friends I had and for helping me anytime I needed you. I will miss you, you were one of the great ones. Rest peacefully my friend.

Brian,
Having worked with your brothers and sisters at MCSO I know that each and every one of them are now reflecting back upon every day they had together working with you. They are a truly special family that will miss you and all that you stood for. I left Marion prior to your arrival and therefore never had the priveldge of meeting you. Now you are with God and looking down upon each and every brother and sister in law enforcement. Your family is in our heart and prayers, for they are survivors.

I had the pleasure of working w/Brian when he was a Baliff at the courthouse and on many trials with our office. I also knew him personally as Shane & Heather's best man in their wedding. He was a gentleman, and a super person. We will miss him in our office and thank God for giving us the opportunity to work and know him. Our prayers to Cherie and Brian,Jr.

Our prayers are with Sheriff Litz wife, son and family. We did not know Sheriff Litz personally but he touched our sons life when he shared what he did with the K-9 Unit with the kids at school. Our son was so excited when he came home to tell us about his chance to pet a police dog and talk with the Sheriff. Brian Litz was truly a Guardian Angel to his community here on earth and a kind soul. God I'm sure said "Job well done faithful servant". May God comfort and Bless the Litz family and Brian's brothers in arms.

Brian,

I have seen and heard how much you were loved, respected and missed by your comrades. You were truly a shining example of professionalism with compassion. I know that you are now in a better place without crime, pain and hatred, but that doesn't keep us left behind from greiving the loss of your presence.

You recently went to my daughter's preschool with Justice. She spoke about Justice but most of her conversation was about you. She was slightly afraid of Justice but felt safe in your presence. I could tell you reached those children by the excited recounting of your visit. Thank you for taking your time with our children. I have read many examples of your compassion and know that you will always be remembered by those left behind.

My prayers go out to you, your family, co-workers and community at this time.

Brian,
You will always be remembered as an easy going kinda guy! The 3 years that I worked with the Marion County Sheriffs Office, I have had the privelage to work with you as a dispatcher. Myself as well as the others always enjoyed when you just stopped by to say hello and bring k9 justice in to visit, he is such a friendly k9. I sit here and think about the kind of deputy that you were and just know that your wife and son must of been very proud to have a husband and dad like you! As soon as I was informed of the fatal shooting I just became NUMB. I just couldnt beleive it when they said your name Brian Litz, i didnt want to beleive it, how could something so terrible happen to one of "our deputys". Now I know what the other agency's and family's feel like when they lose one of there own :-( Dont worry brian, your wife and son will be taken great care of! Myself along with everyone else will never forget the love that you had for k9 justice and this department. You are Loved and Sadly missed!!

To my fellow co-workers Matthew 5:4 says 'Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted'
and Isaiah 57:19 Peace,Peace to the far and the near, says the Lord; and I will HEAL them.

February 10, 2004

Brian,

I am truly sorry you are gone. I have only known you for a few months but I want you to know you made a great impact on my life. I met you in Intrusctor Techniques Class, you always made the class laugh and you were always smiling. I can recall you talking about your family and how much you loved your wife and son. I can remember thinking to myself how wonderful that was hearing a man talk about how much he loved his family. I know your memory will live on forever and may you rest in peace Brian.

It still seems unreal, as the news spread around the agency everyone just stood with disbelief, Brian, we will miss you more than can be put into words. The rest of us have a job to finish, he loved what he did and we need to do our jobs to the best of our ability, knowing it's the way Brian did his.
Rest K3483.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond's glint on snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn's rain
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night
Do not stand on my grave and cry
I am not there.
I did not die

Cherie and Lil Brian

You are in our thoughts and prayers...... We are so sorry for your loss of your husband, friend and father. He will be missed and forever be in our hearts.

"Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some people move our souls to dance.
They awaken us to understanding with the passing
whisper of their wisdom.
Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon.
They leave footprints on our hearts.
And we are never, ever the same."

Brian you will be missed, but not forgotten...............

The accolades from Brian's peers about his many accomplishments and achievements are only a reflection of the parenting skills Ray and Nancy Litz gave their sons. We share their pain and grief, and like they, we hope and pray that every law enforcement officer finish their shift safe and sound. Rich & Jane Janulewicz, Spfld. Ma.
