When I lived in Riverdale I would listen to my police scanner and I remember hearing the guys joke about Wally saying, Oh Wally! Like on the radio show. Pete, I know that was you. I know you guys all loved each other and had your fun times. This is how I remembered Detective Rolniak.

Little known fact, Officer Wally worked closely with Riverdale school district 148 in the DARE program, and as a volunteer. I remember him coming into our class to talk to us about drugs, guns, safety...but the thing i remember most was that even in a room full of rowdy obnoxious 10 year olds, Officer Wally was the sweetest, most patient man. He would sit with us for hours answering all of our dumb questions about being a cop and fighting the bad guys...
Thank you officer Wally for all your years of service and dedication, and I hope it brings comfort to your family to know that they are not the only ones missing such a great man.

Dearest Son,
Although it's been 11 years; the pain is still there. Sorry there was no Snowman this year but the snow was to soft to make one. I'm sure, however, that you got a big kick out of the spectacle we made trying to drive backwards out of the cemetery. Needless to say, it took the anguish out of the moment. I'm sure you had a part in that whole deal. It sure turned our tears into laughter. We're still your same old goofy family, although we are minus the funniest one of all. We all miss you and love you with all our hearts. R.I.P
Dear Son, until we're together again!!!
