Reflections for Detective William "Wally" Rolniak, Jr.

Binky....

Not a day will pass, where you will not be in my thoughts and prayers! Dont get upset, when im bothering you daily, talking to you. And in return, I'll do my best, to try and talk to the White Sox, and see what we can do, about getting that pennant you cherished so badly!

Watch over the boys Wally..and keep them safe......Coast to Coast!

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.

Tonight, February 6, 2004 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Detective William Rolniak who died in the line of duty just two days ago.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Det. Rolniak's sacrifice will never be forgotten.

"This one thing I know: the only ones who will be really happy are those among you who have sought and found a way to serve." Albert Schweitzer
This terrible act leaves me almost speechless. There is nothing I can say that truly expresses the depth of my sympathy for the loved ones, friends, and co-workers that Det. Rolniak leaves behind. I will hold you in my prayers, and I pray that the memories you have of your officer in happier days will help to ease the pain you're feeling now.
Det. Rolniak did not lose his life-he gave it in service, and there is no higher calling than to live a life in service to others. I feel sure that he watches over you still.
Bless you, Detective, for the hero you are. God speed. You will not be forgotten.

To the Family and Co-Workers:
We who have gone before you in the path that you now walk, understand the sorrow and grief that you bare today. It will be hard for awhile, it will not seem real to you that this has happened to your loved one. Your grieving period will have ups and downs, if you want to cry, cry; if you want to talk, talk; if you want to scream, scream, everyone will understand. There will be days when you wonder when this hurt will go away. It will take time. I thought the hurt would never go away, it doesn't, it just gets easier. Take care of yourselves and remember we are all with you and praying for you.

I never knew you,
But we are brothers,
I never met you,
But we are brothers,
Our paths never crossed,
But we are brothers,
I have never patrolled in your town,
But I know we have been on duty together,
I just in another town.
And we are brothers.
And as a brother,
I feel the pain,
I feel the hurt,
And I feel the sadness that only a brother can undergo.
The sacrifices that each of us make everyday in nothing compared to the one you and your fellow officer have accepted.
One that everyone one of us is aware could happen
Any day, any moment, any second.
You have made me proud,
You have made my job easier because
I am more aware.
I am more cautious
And I will never forget you.
May God hold you in his hand and have you rest in peace.

Cumberland County Sheriff Office, NC

I am so sorry that some scum bag has taken the life of another one of our finest. I only hope that Rolniak's family will find some sort of comfort knowing that all of us are thinking of them in this time of need and praying for them. Know that your husband and father is now patroling his beat in Heaven. He is not gone, just waiting for you at a later date meanwhile he will be with you in everything that surrounds you.
