Happy Birthday Nick. I can't believe your 31 years old today. I miss you so much. Yesterday we went to the cemetery and had rice krispie treats and sang to you. The kids love to celebrate your birthday. Have a wonderful day birthday, I'm sure you'll have a big party.

Nick-
Thanks for the song last night!!! needed it. It was so funny how Payton turned on the radio to dance and the song just started and then she turned it off when the song was over. It was nice being able to take all 3 kids to the Memorial breakfast. Bobby almost made me cry. They all miss you so much. Love you,

Kelly

Nick-
Happy Easter!!! We went to the fundraiser for Backstoppers that was in honor of you.. It was great that so many people came out to honor you even after 6 years. We got to see so many friends. I guess you had something to do with it since buckets of Natty Light were $2.00. Needless to say that your 2 brother-in-laws are not feeling too good this morning. We were asked to bring your picture that Dennis Syberg made for Mom & Dad. Dad took it off their wall and Payton said "Where are you taking my Uncle Nick?" Last night, they had all law enforcement in attendance sign a hat for dad and presented it to him. I know it really meant a lot to Dad. I tried to say a few words about you and what Backstoppers means to our family. I got pretty choked up when I started to talk (I think it was relieving everything that happened to you with Officer Haynes. Also, to see all of the people in attendance and a few "surprise" people that showed up that mean a lot to our family.

Bobby and Payton are so grown up now. They stayed with Josh's mom while we went out. They had such a great time.
Love you and miss you so much!!
Please continue to watch over everybody. I heard some great things last night that the policemen do every day to keep your memory alive. Some of them have never met you but they have heard so many great things about you that you have touched their lives as well.

Hey Nick just thinking about you and your family. So many memories were brought back today seeing clips from the news from Officer Hayne's funeral. It looked like a nice service and everyone went to pay their respects and to thank him for his time. Such a sad day today in St. Louis. I know you're there to show him the ropes on his new watch. Just know there's not one day that goes by that you don't cross my mind. Miss ya!

Nick-
I know you were with us this past weekend. You welcomed Aunt Ruthie to her new home. Please be there for Greg and watch over him. On Saturday, we celebrated your life and you. There were a few tears but I know that you just want us to be happy. Gavin wrote his message to you by himself.

Thanks for being there for Bobby on Sunday. We are so lucky to have our angel watching over all of us.

Be with your little man tomorrow. He will need you. I promised him that we would bring him ice cream or popsicles when he needed them. It was so great talking to him tonight.

I better get Payton to sleep. She is going to be 4 on Friday.

Thanks for keeping an eye on Mom. I just keep smiling when I am with her because she is so happy, looks great and is so full of life. I keep telling her 2010 is her year.

I love you forever and always,

Kel

I want you to know that you and your family are always in my prayers, especially on this day. Everytime I drive on 141 and see your signs I say a little prayer. We miss you very much Nick but we know that you are watching over us all and keeping us safe. Thanks for being our angel!

One of my favorite people ever.

Never gone from our hearts and minds.

Always there in the twinkle in Gavin's eyes.

Rest in eternal and blissful peace.

Thinking of you today and remembering your family in my every thought. I hope 2010 will be a better year for them all. I know you will watch over them and keep them strong. It seems like only yesterday that we heard that terrible news. Your family isn`t alone, we are all in this together. With the love and support of friends and family, we will go on. You boys be good now, and watch our backs! We love you .

Uncle Nick,
I wish you wouldn't have died. I almost cried yesterday while mommy and Gavin were talking about you. I miss you Nick. I just wanted to say "Yo Dude!"

Six years may have passed, but you have not been forgotten by those that love you dearly. Some will say it felt like only yesterday that they last saw your smile, heard your voice, and felt your warm touch. For others it has felt like a lifetime. Continue to watch over all of your loved ones and keep them safe. I'd like to leave this short poem I came across for those that love and miss you:

Those who we love and lose
are no longer where they were before.
They are now wherever we are.

Nick,

We just had Bobby's birthday party. The kids had so much fun. We enjoyed all the signs from you. My favorite was the car in the parking lot that said Nic-nac. I thought of you with Nic and how Bobby used to call you uncle Nac. Thank you for coming to Bobby's party, I just wish we could have seen you.

Love you and miss you,
Heather
