I was privilaged to know Nik when I worked in Communications at Frederick. He came in often. He always had a funny story to tell, words of wisdom, words of support. He was there to say goodbye to me the last day I worked before relocating to the Durant area. Anyone who knew Nik knows that we have suffered a tremendous loss and he will never be forgotten.

To the family, I can only send my deepest sympathy and love. Love will keep him alive in our hearts and memory forever.

I would like to express my deepest sympathies for the family, colleagues, and loved ones of Trooper Green. As a military police officer here in Arkansas and a man whose spouse serves as a civilian police officer, I know what sacrifices are made and what dangers police officers face on a daily basis. To a fallen brother I offer a proud farewell salute, and to those left behind a silent prayer in the hopes that our merciful Father will ease your pain and grief.

Trooper Green,

Thank you for your courage. For most, only now is it that the true measure of your dedication is apparent. Please know that you are long since celebrated by those who know the real nature of your work, and that you are defined by heroism and excellence.

I hope your loved ones are now aware of their vast extended family, and that their grief is mitigated by the love of your brothers.

"We Remember the Officers"

We remember the officers who changed our lives,
The men and woman who protected us day and night,
People who respect for their dedication to the cause,
For when faced with danger, they never even pause.

We remember the officers who always stood true,
Whatever the color of uniform, brown, gray or blue,
With pride and integrity they say "To serve and protect",
For the giving of their life, we offer our respect.

We remember the officers who we never really knew,
Persons strong enough to answer the challenge are few,
With heavy hearts we mourn the officers in eternal rest,
There's more to these people than the badge on their chest.

Oh, Mrs. Green, I can't stop crying for you and your girls. I have imagined myself in your shoes more times than I can recall, every time my husband goes out to sea.
I know no words of cheer can help you get though this, but please know the rest of the world isn't simply continuing on without your husband as if he never existed.
My brother serves in OHP and knew your husband and admired him a great deal. I will thank God every day that atleast for a while your husband patrolled the roads along with the other officers. We never know how many of them may have been a hair's breadth away from some horrible fate, when Nikky J. Green came to their rescue either directly or indirectly...or how many might choose to be Saved because of the higher love he used his life to testify to.
For your girls my heart only has an unending flow of tears, and I would rock them if I could until they felt better. May our Lord give you His strength to find the right words to comfort them as well as console your own heart, in those quiet private hours. I will pray for you and them, as will my 4 year old daughter and my 2yr old son (well, he'll shout out the "amen" part anyway, but he sure does mean it:) )
Please understand too, that as military wives, we know Nikki's is no less a sacrifice for country than any soldier, sailor, marine, or airman. He devoted his life to the protection and salvation of the country from within. If it weren't for service like his (AND YOURS- believe me, I understand the little daily sacrifices you made/will have to make are as deserving of recognition as that which Nikki made) this country wouldn't be worth defending from foreign threat in the first place.
"The solemn pride which must be yours to have laid such costly sacrifice at the altar of freedom."- words inscribed at a veteran's memorial statue at Pearl Harbor
