TO THE FAMILY, FRIENDS AND FELLOW COLLEAGUES OF OFFICER SIMPSON,
I OFFER MY SINCERE CONDOLENCES AND MY PRAYERS AT THIS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TIME. WHAT A TRUE AMAZING HERO OFFICER SIMPSON WAS. BECAUSE OF THIS INCREDIBLY BRAVE MAN, THERE IS A CHILD ALIVE TODAY. UNFORTUNATELY, HIS LIFE WAS TAKEN DUE TO THIS TRAGEDY HOWEVER HE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. AS MY BROTHER IN LAW IS A FIREMAN FOR L.A. COUNTY AND MY HUSBAND SERVES AS A DETECTIVE, THIS SEEMS TOO CLOSE TO HOME. I CANNOT EXPRESS THE SORROW I FEEL AND HOW MY HEART ACHES FOR YOU ALL. MAY GOD BLESS OFFICER SIMPSON AND FIND SOME PEACE AND COMFORT KNOWING HE IS SAFE IN HEAVEN WATCHING AND PROTECTING THOSE WHOM HE LOVED SO DEARLY.

This a sad story of a true American HERO. The man risked, and gave his life, to save a young boy. It sounds to me that Officer Russell Simpson spent his entire life in the aid of others, and as such, deserves to be called a hero. Thank You Russell Simpson for all that you have done for the people of America throughout your life. You are a credit to your family, friends, co-workers and nation. May you rest in peace. My prayers are with your family, friends, co-workers, and community. God bless you all. Amen.

"One thing I know: the only ones who will be really happy are those among you who have sought and found a way to serve." Albert Schweitzer
Having been both a firefighter and a law enforcement officer, Officer Russell Simpson must have wanted very much to serve.
"No greater love hath a man than this, that he would lay down his life for another."
Officer Simpson did not lose his life-he gave it in the greatest service possible: attempting to save a life.
My sincere condolences to the family, friends, and co-workers of Officer Simpson.
I pray that the memories of happier times with your officer will help to ease the pain you're feeling now. Rest assured that he patrols Heaven's beat now, and watches over you still.
Those of us he left behind will take up his burden, and your hero will never be forgotten.
